I reckon there won't be because they've hit their funding target quite quickly.

But if they did launch a better replacement I'd just shut this and open the new one.

Golden scenario is falling base rate.

But i reckon we can tolerate 3 base rate rises before this becomes uncompetitive

    Good point!

I've opened, funded (by DC) and all showing online. Useful since have their RS maturing later in month.

Hanley have form in that they closed their Branch Saver to additional deposits from existing account holders as well as to new applicants.

They could easily do the same to this account.

I'm passing on this one due to the £1k min. As a membership-maintaining account I opened the Dual Access Saver which has a MOB of £1. Covering base when both my RS accounts mature in a few weeks.

I've just done the same and for the same reason, as the RS matures into a low-paying easy account (0.90% for the max RS balance) so this will be a much better home for the matured funds and a decent way of remaining as a Hanley Eco BS customer. As their online banking site is pretty basic, it is possible there won't be a way to do an internal transfer, though.

Thanks to @gwapenut for the heads-up about the imminent account withdrawal.

That's a very good point. I think it took around 4 months for the Hanley to close the Branch Saver to new deposits, although there's no guarantee it'll be the same time-frame this time (if at all) as it presumably depends on their funding requirements.

re Hanley, When I last called into a branch they were clear that their online and branch based systems were not linked. I could not close a branch account and transfer it to an online account already open without it going into my bank account first! I opted to close it completely.

They said their branch system does not show online accounts I also had.

I funded by PayPal debit card, linked to my zopa direct debit. So I'm already a grand into my £1500 cashback target for this year :)

Just had a Kafkaesque conversation with an extremely unhelpful agent at Hanley about making a deposit. I can't access my (new) account until temp ID received via post (we all know how long that could take!) and wanted to add funds using a debit card, so thought I'd see if they could take the deposit over the phone. Agent clearly had no clue about how the account operates, couldn't/wouldn't put me through to anyone who could help, stonewalled me at every turn, refused information about complaints procedure. Thinking of closing the account - has anyone else had issues with Hanley?

If you decide to keep the account - and you noted the application reference number - you can use this to make a Faster Payment to fund the account.

I transferred most of my branch saver into an online account this year and closed the residue by sending my passbook in. I did send my passbook in for the online transfer
