No need to open a new account. There is an upgrade button and if you click that you will get three choices one of which is upgrade an existing account you hold. Click that and then click the account you want to upgrade.

top right on your accounts page, and follow the option to upgrade an existing account.

Upgrade is instant, account details stay the same, and you will get the accrued interest from the old rate a day or two later, as a credit into your upgraded account. Your new account duration is 12 months from upgrade.

Quite decent of Cahoot to invite people on their homepage to upgrade. Mind you, who randomly goes to the Cahoot homepage?
