Being completely ignorant but how can 12 months end on 9 September 2027 if you open the account today?
0 -
I too wondered that. This is from the FAQs:
When does the fixed bonus term end?
The 12 month fixed interest term ends on 09 September 2027 for everyone, regardless of when you opened your Limited Edition Saver account.

Hi
Does anyone know what the interest rate will be for this account taken out in Oct 25 at 4.5%?
Many thanks

thanks @BreakingGlass for saving me having to explain it - Ulster/RBS/NatWest can be quite weird with dates like this - I did a switch in February, so got their boosted RS which logically should have ended in February 2027, but the boost carries on until the end of June 2027.

Sounds like Issue 1 which decreased to 4.25% on 6th March.

will depend on the issue, but Issue 1 dropped from 4.50% to 4.25% in March 2026.

Thanks @BreakingGlass and @janusd I have opened it and will make a note that it should end in September 2027 instead of June. I don't think they put the end date in the account details when you look at the account online (at least I can't see it for my existing account).

Can you easily move money in and out of the account online? I noticed it mentioned a card reader is needed?

On the Ulster Bank website you need a card reader and card to create a new payee, exactly the same as NatWest/RBS, and indeed you can use a NatWest or RBS card reader. Once payee created you can then make payments without needing them. It is also the same card reader as Nationwide if you already have one of those. The readers are not unique to your account, some other fobs such as HSBC/First Direct have unique serial numbers and are paired to your account.

Presuming that the Ulster Limited Edition Saver Issue 3 works the same way as Issue 1, there's no need for a card reader if you make online payments using the app - you just need to register to be able to use biometrics on your phone.
