Hope it's not a stupid question
Just got access to my Cahoot Saving account (opened when the interest offered was 4.4%) - is it normal that the interest showed in the account is 4.31%? I assume they show the gross interest?
Yes, If you went for annual interest it would have shown 4.4%.  Most providers will display gross if the interest is paid monthly.
Thank you for your kind reply.
Is the amount earned showed only at the end of the month? I can't see like a 'daily' interest when going into the saving account.
    Many thanks again!

They don't show the daily interest accrued. They add the months interest on the 1st or 2nd  day after the anniversary of your opening email. They don't send any notification.

Anyone else made a transfer out of Marcus savings today and had it not been sent?  I transferred around £1k this morning and got the text message to say withdrawal made but nothing has arrived in my linked account.  Notably I did not get the email (and its the email that signals they have actually sent the money).  It is well after the 2 hours quoted and heard nothing.

Have used Marcus since it opened and it has always operated flawlessly before.

It’s a weekend so they probably had payments in a hold queue for a Faster Payments change or similar. Good if Banks can notify people when these things are happening……many do.

Email received from Nationwide Building Society this afternoon:

    We're lowering some rates

In December, the Bank of England reduced the Base Rate to 3.75%. As a result, we will be lowering some of our variable savings rates.

The new rates will be applied on 10 February 2026, and we’ll be writing to you separately about your accounts that are affected. In the meantime, a 4-page PDF is available to view online.

Email from Nottingham Building Society today:

Your Bonus Access Saver 11 interest rate is decreasing on 27 January 2026

Your current interest rate is 4.35%. From 27 January 2026, your new interest rate payable on your Bonus Access Saver 11 will decrease to 4.10% gross‡ p.a./AER*.

This includes a bonus of 2.40% until 31 October 2026. The interest rate without bonus will decrease to 1.70% gross‡ p.a./AER*

Question for all you rate watchers out there.
I was just checking the legacy account rate card (available here) for the Online Bonus Triple Access (Issue 7) account, which still shows at 4.35% (since 18/9/25). As I currently only have £1 in this account so may not get the eMail, have PBS announced a rate reduction for this account/announced rate reductions in general? I have a decent stash in the West Brom Triple Access Issue 1 that drops to 4.3% on 2nd Feb, so would move that to PBS if it's going to stay at 4.35%, but not if there's likely to be a 0.25% cut coming over the hill!
Thank you for sharing any relevant info  :)

    Re: Principality
They are making changes on 5 Feb. They don't seem to have published anything regarding NLA accounts yet. The open accounts say what the new rates will be on their savings pages.

They give 14 days notice of a change so that would be 22 Jan. I think in your shoes I'd wait until then before moving money over for the sake of 0.05% in case they make changes (especially since the West Brom a/c is limited withdrawals)

The issue 8 rate is going down by 0.2% (not 0.25%.) on 5 Feb.  Of course that doesn't mean that issue 7 will go down by the same amount.  But you may want to leave the WestBrom money where it is
