Unfortunately you can’t get Issue 2 if you already have Issue 1dcs34 said:Santander Edge saver (Issue 2)
Can holders of issue 1 also open Issue 2? The KFD says "You can have an account in your sole name." but it's not clear if "an account" is "any Edge saver account of any issue" or "an account of this Edge Saver Issue 2".
Here is what happens if you’re trying it on 🥺

I called them and they are working with back office to try to keep the account open. They said it usually takes 48 hours to close an account via Chatbot so perhaps I'll be luckyflaneurs_lobster said:
Nope, chat with Sandi on Mon 29 PM, account closed/balance + interest in current account on Wed 31. New Edge Saver opened/funded same day.granta said:
Did you close yours by 'phone as it sounds like yours was done more efficiently?flaneurs_lobster said:
Closed Monday and reopened yesterday. Still there, but I doubt it'll be at 7% for too much longer.masonic said:Well that's annoying. I'm just a couple of months away from "renewing" this. I had considered doing so at the end of July, but decided to wait. At least I didn't rush to do so when the interest rate decision was announced or I'd have missed out on those last couple of months.0 -
I was due to renew my Santander Edge Saver in a couple of weeks, but got impatient and did it early

I see a new app version has been released on 24 July My wife and I have identical phones and the same app verson. The app opens on my phone but always crashes on my wife's, even after rebooting.flobbalobbalob said:Oxbury Bank Android app. I've been updated to the new version 2.0.0 and it fails to load correctly. Has anybody else had difficulties? Obviously I can't logon to use the app chat and more worryingly they say you can also select webchat on the FAQ page but that doesn't exist and sends you round in a loop. So the only option that I'm not happy about is to email them. I will try the email in the morning and let you know how fast it is to resolve. Correction.. I've found the webchat option disguised as a "?" button which is a lot less conspicuous than the contact us button I was pressing.
Does anybody else still have oxbury app issues, especially on Xiaomi phones? The app does not work on the "main" part of my own phone either - but it does work in the "second space" second boot partition, where I keep all my banking apps.
It seems unacceptale that they have no contact phone number and no live chat unless you are logged in (which you cannot be if your app is broken). The only option is to wait 5 days for them to respond to an email.

Just had an email from Oxbury regarding the Personal Easy Access Account (Issue 1) that they’re reducing the interest rate:
We are writing to let you know that from 16/08/2024, your account's interest rate on balances above £1,000.00 will change from 4.83% Monthly Gross / 4.94% AER to 4.59% Monthly Gross / 4.69% AER.
Where your balance falls below £1,000.00 interest continues to not be payable, however if your balance is above £1,000.00, interest will accrue at 4.59% Monthly Gross / 4.69% AER on the whole balance from 16/08/2024.I’ve only got £1 in it in case it became competitive again, seems that it won’t0 -
Ulster bank have a 5.2% savings account that you can transfer in and out of easily. It's part of the nat west group, you need to select a branch when you apply and they are all in Belfast. Just tell it to look for branches in Belfast when it asks.cavallino69 said:Hi people my first post on here😜😜
What's the best savings account with easy access and at least 4%-5% interest.
Can anyone recommend a reliable safe provider please, either a well known bank or BS or any of the online only savings account featured in MSE recommendations.
Has anyone had experience with these savers, either good or bad.... thanks
You get the interest annually. Quite whether they will reduce the rate is anyone's guess0 -
It turns out, as a helpful member of here told me, that the original email about the new app has this phone number on it which l used successfully. 01244 735007gwapenut said:

Also there is a live chat on the web page FAQ's cunningly labelled "?" On my browser or "? Help" on other browsers. Ie do not bother to click on the "Contact Us" button.1 -
I recently managed to open an Ulster Bank current account, with a view to sending money to their 5.2% savings, but the whole experience was so chaotic, I have decided to close the current account and have nothing more to do with them.

Probably not what you want to hear but I get the feeling that you may've given up at the final hurdle with Ulster.Arthurian said:I recently managed to open an Ulster Bank current account, with a view to sending money to their 5.2% savings, but the whole experience was so chaotic, I have decided to close the current account and have nothing more to do with them.
In my experience opening the current account itself was a long winded affair but once the current account was open, applying for the savings account took less than a minute in the app, with the account fully operational the next day, probably among the easiest savings account applications I've done. For me everything's worked very smoothly with Ulster since then.1
