Email from Chase this afternoon about the Chase Saver account interest rate, which is tied to the Bank of England base rate.

The standard saver rate will change from 3.75% AER (3.69% gross) variable to 3.50% AER (3.45% gross) variable on 14 November 2024 (this coming Thursday).

    https://www.chase.co.uk/gb/en/support/interest-rates-explained/

It didn’t mention my Boosted Saver Account in the email but their website/T&Cs state that any other offers will be subject to changes to the Bank of England base rate.

I would imagine the rate for the Boosted Saver account will drop accordingly to 4.50% AER (4.45% gross) on 14 November 2024 also.

  • Secure Trust rate reduction

  • Will be moving around £50k out of Chase saver and am undecided on either Monument or Vanquis?
The difference in interest is around £2 a month so i am more interested in customer service, easier use of app or website etc. I am also thinking that the Monument rate of 4.81aer is the new reduced rate but the 4.85 at vanquis could be reduced anytime? I will need instant access and around 5 withdrawals a year as the money is mostly stoozing from zero percent credit cards. Any advice?

Interesting that the no longer available Cahoot Simple Saver (issue 4) is dropping to 4.35% AER from 4.85% AER from 11th February 2025 (as per above). They only had to give 2 months notice but they've given 3 months instead. A lot of people endured the often difficult opening process in anticipation that this account would become temporarily really good after a base rate reduction.
The Cahoot Sunny Day saver (issue 2) is still showing as available at 5% AER for balances up to £3,000, and as already stated above the Cahoot Sunny Day saver (issue 1) joins it at 5% AER for balances up to £3,000 from 18th November after its rate reduces from 5.2% AER (for those whose year isn't coming to an end soon).

    I came, I saw, I melted

I am a fan of Monument. It's instant access any time, in and out. Really quick too.  It does have a 25k minimum balance but I keep that much in their 60 day notice account so I don't need to worry about going under. (They did say they would close the account if the balance went below the minimum) It's app only which I was hesitant about initially but it's been really reliable.

Vanquis, money out is not with you until the end of the next day. Altogether slower so I just planted the minimum of £1k there to keep options open.

Monument's easy access account has been at 4.81% for at least a couple of months now so it hasn't been reduced since last week's BoE reduction.

With the competition falling, I would imagine a rate reduction will occur on both of those accounts soon.
