In the 3 years I had it, I had interim inspections completed and anything that needed doing was done as it came up. I was told old vehicles need regular maintenance and don't just leave it till MOT is due. I bought it with the small sum left to me by my mum so I treasured it. If the buyer has not used it much (he also lives on the coast ) and has had it stood for the best part of a year this won't have helped. I knew nothing about Bongos when I bought it but I did lots of research as I wanted it to last years, I spent a small fortune in between MOTS as they are prone to rust etc and parts are old and wear out. I was also told they need a good run regularly however, I'm not a mechanic but I really looked after it.6

You were told right Mandy. That most recent MOT is the MOT of an old van that's been stood - all the more so if stood near the sea.
What you describe about having hte work done before and between MOTs is why a lot of vans have spotless MOTs. It's not because they've needed no work but because the work was done before the MOT. My van is a 12 plate Transit, she had a hard life with Network Rail before I bought her. I've used a van and truck place mostly for work and for the first few years they did all the checks for an MOT and more, fixed anything that needed fixing and then took it through its actual MOT, and so those years the MOT is spotless. Last year because they'd done a lot of work (new gear box etc!) just prior we just put it straight through the MOT and then I fixed the couple of advisories. And so it looks as though last year she had a few problems but prior to that nothing for years, when in reality the previous years there'd been plenty of bits and bobs but fixed before the MOT.
By the looks of that MOT he's not even checked his lights before it.
You've nothing to worry about Mandy. I would seriously consider speaking to the police about harrassment though.4 -

I think that's a good idea. This is harassment.
I'm the same with noises. I'm deaf and so it's a weird vibration that I notice and the garage started gently taking the p out of me for turning up and saying it doesn't seem right, but did conceded I was usually right.1 -
The guy obviously went to MOT station and asked them to be utterly ruthless with their inspection and to create as long a list as possible. He was probably hugely disappointed with the end result though2

I had a fair few repairs done throughout the years of which he now has the invoices for. I was so on top of the maintenance of the van my friends used to laugh at me, if I heard a noise it was in the garage being checked, I'm a bit paranoid about breaking down as I'm on my own lol. I haven't replied to his message yet as I think I'll speak to the police, just for advice.
You know he doesn't turn up at court, and you have learnt a great deal in those 12 months.
Let's Be Careful Out There3 -
I seriously wouldn’t bother replying to him. The more you engage the more likely he is to carry on messaging you.Simply wait and see if he follows through with an attempt at any formal action. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.4
