Found the reg in a previous post. So it failed on:

    • Offside Rear Brake pipe excessively corroded (1.1.11 (c))
    • Nearside Suspension component mounting prescribed area excessively corroded significantly reducing structural strength sill at front and rear (5.3.6 (a) (i))
    • Offside Suspension component mounting prescribed area excessively corroded significantly reducing structural strength sill at front (5.3.6 (a) (i))
Repair as soon as possible (minor defects):
    • Nearside Registration plate lamp inoperative in the case of multiple lamps or light sources (4.7.1 (b) (i))
Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
    • Central Rear Brake hose has slight corrosion to ferrule (1.1.12 (f) (i))
    • Nearside Rear Brake hose has slight corrosion to ferrule (1.1.12 (f) (i))
    • Offside Rear Brake hose has slight corrosion to ferrule (1.1.12 (f) (i))
    • Nearside Front Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material (1.1.11 (c))
    • Offside Front Service brake binding but not excessively (1.2.1 (f))
    • Nearside Rear Service brake fluctuating, but not excessively (1.2.1 (e))
    • Nearside Front Seat belt webbing slightly damaged or frayed (7.1.2 (b))
    • o/s/r seat belt is of an occasional fitting and not fit for purpose

That's what happens to 28 year old van especially when not driven (about 1500 miles in the year)
Mileage history is a bit odd. Has it had 2 reconditioned engines perhaps?

Or the MOT mileage was reported as Km not miles by accident?

I'd guess that the odometer is in km but on two occasions the garage converted it into miles for the paperwork?

Then the two dips would be the miles (correct) and all the others are kilometres (incorrect). Seems unlikely? Dunno. Looks like the mileages are mostly kilometres.

It could be some sort of mix up with km and miles though?

Why does fitting a reconditioned engine affect the instrument cluster and make it display a lower mileage (or kilometerage) for one MoT, then be okay for the others in the future?

The vehicle is a grey market import from Japan where roads are measured in km. The odometer will record in km. A mix-up seems quite plausible to me.
