The biggest shame is there are no repercussions for people like this to act as a deterrent to others.

Great news, but !!!!!! like him should have some kind of repurcussion.  He obviously never had any intention of turning up as he informed the court but still wanted to mess you around by not informing you.

Never had a claimant fail to turn up but I guess it would apply to them too.

Possibly.
It would be one thing getting a court award.
Another actually getting the money.
