Yesterday I did lots of weeding - several tubs into the green waste. I cleared the no dig bit of weeds and planted out the leeks, celeriac and kohl rabi.  Weeded round the beans, and the last courgette (which was probably saved by the weed collar!).  Harvested some accidental potatoes. Put some more petit pois and french bean seeds in.

I put the newly germinated replacement cucumber into a big pot in the greenhouse in the hope that it might survive the slugs this time.  Will try a wool insulation collar.

I have two spare cucumbers and a lot of wool if you want it? (And a spare climbing courgetter and a blue banana squash). Not the healthiest as they're overdue for planting out, but they are alive ;)

Thanks - I remembered I have insulating wool in the garage (from food deliveries) and I grew three new cucumbers when the first ones got eaten. I suspect anything that goes in will just get eaten so I'm not making any more effort other than planting things I have.

i ate my first tiny broad bean today - very nice it was too. I also noticed that the sticky weed is covered in black fly.

I have plenty of hawkweed too, thanks.

For anyone who can't get hold of the wool slug pellets, ask around for people who get wool insulation in deliveries. I had a lot when my cats were eating frozen food and it wasn't returnable. I also get it with chilled stuff that comes with my veg box order, although that an be returned. I find it just as effective, and it's 'free'.
Oooh …. I buy tonnes of that stuff a year! Good tip! 😊

Well no need to water today, apart from the greenhouse, as it has been raining since 6am. Bang goes my plan to cut the grass & tidy the front garden. If it stops I may get out there later, I have some bark to go down & at least the weeding will be easier!

I don't know about anyone else but it's forecast for fairly solid rain all weekend here so my list may be problematic.

    Suggestions:
any indoor plants that want feeding/cleaning/trimming? I put mine out in the rain if it's warm enough - easier than dusting the Christmas cactus.
indoor herbs - watering from the bottom. I read an article on keeping the SM ones alive which suggested bottom watering was key, and that rosemary rarely survives which made me feel better

I will be dodging the raindrops to water and feed in the tunnel and greenhouse. The tomatoes are doing really well and I just love the smell in there.

It's a good time to try propagating house plants which I haven't done before other than splitting them. It's also a good time to try rose cuttings (said the gardeners world email this week) so I may give that a go if there is a break in the rain.

I've picked courgettes, peas, and a few strawberries this morning in between torrential downpours.

I managed to get the tomatoes dealt with yesterday - staked, tied up, and side shoots removed, so the greenhouse is a lot more accessible. I have some pots half-filled with compost ready for the last few leggy tomatoes to go into. They won't grown big, but I might get a few more tomatoes.

All the flower seedlings now have homes allocated, and the seed trays were put outside on the relevant beds yesterday. So I need to get out to shove them in the ground today or tomorrow morning. And I'll feed the greenhouse today as tomorrow is too chaotic.

I need to plan what to put in after the broad beans, which now have quite a few pods, so may come out next weekend.

Mostly it's not really gardening weather this weekend...
