Ooh, thanks Redo, I forgot this was a weekly list type of thread so thank you! 😁 Great idea to get the houseplants outside for a good soak. I don't have many but they definitely could do with it. At least one could do with a repot too... and I need to water the fig that's looking a bit lonely and droopy in the greenhouse by itself.2

Got out for an hour and hacked down some of the hardy geraniums so they can resprout fresh foliage and pulled various finished foxgloves. Did various other weed pulling and bramble / hawthorn cutting so we can walk round the back of the house without getting soaked. Three heaped wheelbarrows of material shifted. 😊

I've just had to bin my cucumber plants as they are smothered in blackfly, which have stunted the growth 😕2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Aargh Floss I feel your pain - I'm currently fighting that battle with the runner beans - I will be SO cross if the nasty little blighters manage to kill another lot of beans! Much squishing is occurring, combined with some soap-solution spraying too.
As for the idea of standing plants you would otherwise have to dust outside in the rain, that is a genius idea. Thank you Redo!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I did a bit of tidying up of some houseplants over the weekend and today spent an hour on the garden, so we once again have some definition to the hedge that's been growing at an impressive pace. The blue geraniums have finished flowering so I've cut them back to give the grass a chance and encourage them to flower again later. The pink ones are still on the go so the job's not complete.
This evening it occurred to me to fetch the pot of basil in, just in time. There were about nine slugs on the pot! Poor basil - but there's still enough left to rescue. I also met a frog on the doorstep and he obligingly ate a slug as I watched.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Excellent froggy endevours there!
Monday night is courgette/cucumber/tomato watering night - except we couldn't do it last night as everything was so wet the last thing they needed was any more watering! I can't see anything much having changed there this evening either - in fact, I'd best go out and tip the water out of the saucers I think.
One small courgette picked and eaten last night. Can't see us getting many more until we get a bit more sunshine, quite honestly. At least my herbs are finally beginning to make some headway though - that at least is a bright spot, even if it does look like all my careful successional sowing of basil is going to be fully in leaf at the same time!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Finally managed to get in the garden this evening.
1.17Kg of peas - never, ever managed a crop like this before! 😊❤️
Sprig of parsley for my green, lemony, creamy pasta that also sucked up some of the peas 😊
Bunch of sweet peas and deadheaded at the same time 😊

lovely crops, I love peas and sweet peas.
the eldest pinches all of the peas as fast as they ripen. He doesn't willingly eat veg so I encourage it. I did pick a few tiny but tasty broad beans today and noticed the start of fruits growing on the tomatoes. We have had some rather nice (supermarket) pea shoot and garlic chive salads in the last few weeks and this is something I want to grow and replicate in the future. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
