NST June - Turtle Power

Morning all, I was pottering in the garden and ironing yesterday evening, so I didn't post.
Yesterday was spend-free day #1 in June.
I was grateful for
1. having a coffee on my new bench
2. seeing my veg plants intact from slugs.
3. Having this new home to take time to get to know and decide how I want to live in it.

Good morning,
had a productive but spendy weekend (all within budget). Did a trip to the dump, loads of gardening, some painting and the big food shop. Also got a reduced sun lounger for the 6 days of sunshine up here, lol. The city of discovery is actually not too bad for summer days and want to enjoy them more outside in the garden this year. Also did a fair bit of crochet. Got my crochet mojo back and want to use up my scraps and my aunties stash before I treat myself to some nice wool for winter.
I'm grateful for summer days, hundreds of bees and bumble bees doing their job in the garden, and getting older. I started having a bit of a middle age sucks kinda phase but aging is a privilege. I need to appreciate it more.

Lovely to hear of garden pottering, mojo's returning, giggles and scratched mountains. Little efforts in the right direction as often as we feel able is a recipe for success! I am very much of the spurt and collapse, mega effort and burnout background, and it has propelled some areas of life forward but at what cost. Being forced by circumstances into a slower pace of life has revealed a lot of joy and dare I say it, more progress in some more important areas of life like health and fitness than my career driven years. If my life was a hallmark movie, I think there would be a hunky lumberjack lurking just around a corner
I am short cutting @grandmanerds excellent extracts as decision making and choices are not my strong point this month... but I thought I would share a article which made me smile and evoked hope yesterday, a bit of an ode to gardeners midsummer! https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/article/2024/jun/02/as-midsummer-approaches-the-garden-makes-a-bid-for-glory

The great tidy up continues. Going to take a long time, I suspect. But little by little and we'll get there.
Decluttering the freezer as well. Now that is a major operation.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.9 -
NSD 1 here.
Grateful today for getting home from the office earlier than planned, for chat with other parents in the playground at pick-up time, and for OH making me an afternoon coffee with his newly inherited coffee-making machine from his auntie who no longer wanted it (more clutter)

Evening turtles. Forgot to post yesterday, went for a short horse ride first thing, then OH and I went out for lunch locally (split the cost so a spend day). My headache decided to come back in the evening so headed off to bed early. It was still there this morning so I decided to call in sick as I couldn't think of anything worse than sitting in front of a computer all day. Not much achieved today, have mainly just lay on the sofa! But it seems to have done the trick for the most part. And it's been a NSD so there's a silver lining!9

Went to the library and printed out the estimates. Finished reading books (real ones and e books). Some tidying.
Grateful for sleep, getting through all the technical stuff at the library (printer was most reluctant to part with my second document), being reasonably comfortable (a bit cooler).11 -

Late to the party but here is my plan for June:
Thoughts: where do I sign up for the turtle neighbourhood?
and I would love to actually count my NSDs this month! I'll call today early so I'm on 2/15!
Take time to set your budget
I had a fairly non spendy week last week but that was all ruined when I brought home a haul from the charity shops yesterday. I’m in the UK for two weeks and this is one of my favourite things to do when I’m back, and I do find it hard to resist spending in them. I spent 50 quid but I got a lot of things that I will use, and it’s all for a good cause...
I also bought Mum and her partner a takeaway and Mum and me paninis for lunch, all money well spent as we don’t spend time together very often. This weekend will be spendy as I’m going to Cornwall for a hen do, and we have a few activities planned. I have set aside money for this in my UK account and hope I don’t have to make another transfer from my Spanish bank if things get out of hand!
Pay to debt or savings first.
I have worked out how much I will need to save every month to be on track for saving a house deposit. These milestones are saved as reminders that come up just before pay day. It is working so far on helping me stay focused.
I have just transferred cash into savings from May pay day.
Do something each day to benefit future-you.
I love this one. I like the idea of avoiding decision-making as much as possible in the mornings by preparing my work bag and laying out clothes ready. I am going to bring back exercising every day as I find it's easier to stick with the habit that way.
Do something each day to benefit you-in-the-moment.
Reading relaxes me and I want to make sure I carve out time to do this more. Also make time for writing in the mornings.
Think about the community
I need to have a think about this. I tend towards inaction due to feeling overwhelmed too.
If in UK, register to vote
I am registered to vote in the last place I lived in the UK. I need to check my details are correct, I will hunt down the email address I need. Thanks for the reminder Starlight!
RANDOM AND RETAINED RULE
Feel good about yourself. You are trying your best. You are enough
Thank you :-)
I am grateful for my Mum's garden and all its flora and fauna, for discovering a new author, for an easy work day. For my mum's dog.
