Happy belated birthday @f0xh0les 🎂
Yesterday I worked in the morning and then did some volunteering in the afternoon/early evening. Felt good to be getting back into it, wish I could do it more but barely got agreement from work for the next 4 weeks so sadly can't make it a permanent feature. Didn't spend anything so that's another positive.
Today has been a trying day at work with a coworker who I'm meant to be doing a project with who doesn't really pull their weight. Trying to stay chilled about it knowing I'll be leaving soon and then the true scale of their laziness will become clear! I resisted buying coffee today as well, another win! Nothing much else to report, just trucking along.6 -
Today I am grateful for our magic builder chaps, for the trains that have taken me to a dust free environment for a couple of days, for tech so I could do video calls with Pip and dh, for the restorative power of a good shower, for chocolate!

Great news @Toni'sfriend, one less thing for you to worry about. Good they could put your mind at rest so quickly. Hope tomorrow goes well & you & DH have a nice lunch.

Got up ready to do yoga, but DH has brought in another new door to be fitted & painted, so it was blocking the floorspace in our small living room. Did Norwegian, etc instead. Woke DS1&3 up for work too. Work went fine, a small blip in the morning, but otherwise ok.
Another pair of trousers shortened after tea & the jacket sleeves too. Collected DS3 from his bus
Grateful for finishing the suits altering, time to read, the progression of the new doorsUse it up, wear it out

I can't drive at the moment, waiting for 2nd eye cataract op, ( another 3 months wait!) so very grateful for SIL taking me to the big DIY shop tomorrow to get the paint etc, ready for when the decorator can come.DH has been rather poorly, but seems to be a bit improved today.Sending gentle (((hugs))) for all who need/want them. That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy6 -
Good morning, not an NSD yesterday as I bought flowers and chocolates for the after school club ladies. DD (10) has decided it's time to walk home (and she's ready anyway) and DS is already in highschool. Finally 13 years of childcare costs finished. Can't believe we used to pay nearly 2k a month at some point when they were both in private nursery for a while
. From next month I'll have an extra £180 in my pocket I think as the last of the childcare vouchers stop. 😊

Cooler here this morning. Yesterday was a bit of a write off, culminating in a half hour wait in a queue at the understaffed supermarket pharmacy in my brother's town only to be told his tablets weren't ready
In fairness, I did feel for the poor lady who was single handedly trying to serve all the customers. I shall have to investigate the possibility of getting his presctiptions sent elsewhere. It is difficult because it isn't the surgery I am registered with, or even the town I live in, and I am not sure how things work. They seem to automatically send prescriptions to the supermarket next door, which they share a car park with, but there may be other possibilities. It made me realise that we are a bit spoilt here, as although our town is much smaller, we have an excellent independent pharmacy and a B**ts one that people speak highly of.
Anyway, apart from trying again to get the tablets today, and sorting out my brother afterwards, I will walk the dog (shortly), do some watering in the garden, hope the person who is supposed to be collecting something today turns up more or less on time, clean the kitchen window and do some other chores. Small goals I know.OH will cook dinner, such as it is (cold meat, potatoes and salad today) while I pursue pharmacy shenanigans. He sort of insists on a proper dinner (which includes potatoes rice or pasta), whereas I would be happy with a sandwich on fraught days, but he is at least willing enough to do something simple himself.Grateful today that OH will cook his own potatoes (and dig them first)7 -
Think I've taken a rather large step forward. I phoned to see if my brother had got my letter and he said his daughter had sent me something on the computer (not working laptop). They suggested meeting on Monday at grandma's house (think I will have a name plaque made with that on it). Slightly wary as I didn't know what they were thinking but agreed to Monday to move it forwards. This meant spending Monday from waking up powering through my room, discarding what I could and gathering all the 'accounts' bits and putting them in order.
They want to sell, I want to buy his half (but not paying over the odds if it needs nearly £30 K of work). They kept using 'we' (as in we want to - and you'll do all the work) so I've given them a key and said they can have it cleaned if they want to. My niece thinks cleaning it will magically make it worth a lot more and I don't want to pay for cleaning when there's a whole lot of other work needing doing first.
As a tactic it worked well (they didn't want a lot of work and certainly didn't want to commit to paying for half of it). Accounts were sorted slowly (with my brother not paying attention and wandering off on conversational detours). He's owed £232 but it's being retained against future bills. As he started off saying I still owed him £12,000 from the estate and half the remaining rent money. This was balanced out by all the bills I've paid (and taxi fares back and forth).
I also put all the newly discovered VHS tapes in bin bags (7) and they all went in the bin and I got my brother to lift all the glassware out of a cupboard (very sticky martini and sherry glasses) so I can wash them and take them to the cs.
Yesterday I was absolutely exhausted. Woke before 6 am, had my pills, went back to sleep, woke brushed my teeth, slept, woke, had a shower, slept, woke, put on antiseptic cream, ibuprofen gel etc (and my dress?), slept and finally started to feel alive after 1 pm. Made myself get up as I had a bill to pay at the GPO, picked up some plant labels (I cheated and got 200 lolly sticks from the craft section for £1), picked up a sandwich and came back to my bed once I got in.
Everything still hurts today (from my back to my toes with the odd crick in my neck) but I've put the sheets on the line to dry and had a short nap. Still creaky so I'm going to stay upstairs and finish reading my book. There are lots of things to do but I feel that I'm catching up - lots of pots were washed at weekend and the bedroom is in a good place for final sorting (as long as I don't disturb any towering piles of stuff whilst I finish off.
Grateful for an amicable meeting with my brother, keeping my temper (niece keeps saying everything is as good as/ better than her house), drawing a line and handing tasks over to them.11 -

Today I am grateful for the hotel finding yummy gf food for me, for a good meeting, for using the gym, for a lovely chat with Pip , for the builders putting insulation between the new ceiling and the floorboards above it.
