Get well to anyone who has medical issues at present.
Yes have a good trip to London Valli, sorry we can't arrange a flymeet but I'll be all over the place!
I've been working down my list.
- several tomato plants moved from small pots to grow bag (more to go, if I have time)
- climbing bean plants sown at the base of the deer-nibbled runner beans. The soil seems lovely and warm and damp so hopefully they will be ok.
- other various plants potted on/planted out in my effort to get about a week's worth of gardening crammed into an hour or so.
- 2nd report finished, checked and emailed. Phew. That means I have no work outstanding. I have bookings for one date in July I think, presuming my two cancelled ones went to another assessor and are not just postponed - I don't mind either way. Coming up to my retirement date from uni, eek!!
- Mr N very kindly took my car in to have 4 new tyres so I could finish my report. While in town he also put petrol in, bought a sympathy card for SIL who recently lost her sister, bought a new cool bag for our hols as ours fell apart last week and he got a bit of food.
- I did a mild kitchen flying after making a pizza for dinner.
- sent a few emails. Only 2 Mum-related calls - one from her and one from BIL (now recovered from op and is driving) who visited her this afternoon and says she has improved greatly, could stand at washbasin unaided to wash her hands after zimmering herself to the bathroom. He thinks they will send her home soon. Plan A is still for me to go down to Dorset tomorrow, Mr N to join me on Sunday then we will go on holiday unless DB doesn't get back from his work in France. He won't be amused if Mum is sent home as soon as he gets back. I do hope I can see one of her stroke doctors in the next couple of days so I know what is going on.
Will probably lurk while I'm away........cheer you all on.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.8 -
Give me a wave when you come to the smoke tomorrow @Valli7

Hi all
I am home from work until 5.30pm, I would usually stay and do a stupidly long day but I am trying to be sensible and look after myself. I have put a load of washing over the airer and I am now curled up on the sofa with my book.
Other flying can wait. DH has taken veggie shepherds pie out of the freezer for tea.
Wet, cold and windy here.
Hope everyone is having a good Monday.8 -
This morning after taking a bag of recycling down I took A to the hospital for an appointment with a doctor in the orthopaedic department. He hadn't seen the recent hip x-ray that A had had at a local health centre and said he wasn't able to see it and, in fact, didn't seem interested in reading the radiographer's report that A had printed off and brought with him.He asked some questions and said that A could have a hip replacement but seemed very downbeat about it, talking mainly about the risks and downplaying the potential benefits. As A isn't that keen anyway (for reasons that I can't really fathom) he was never going to push it. He gave him a leaflet and said to make another appointment for 4-6 months and they would review it then and would do another x-ray at that point. We don't seem to have made much, if any, progress. We came back and I made lunch, after which A wanted to go and have his covid booster at a local chemist that does them on a walk-in basis. After that we came home again and I made tea and WUPA the breakfast, lunch and tea things and S&S in the kitchen.7

CoG.. It has been noticed in the treatment of my mother (70) and grandmother (95) the medical profession don't seem overly keen on giving them surgical help even though it will improve their quality of life because they are unimportant, they do not work or bring anything to society. Several years ago my mother severed a tendon in her leg, the consultant said if she was a man or played a sport they would operate and fix it but she would just have to wait. Sometimes the US system is better! I need hip and knee replacements but can't even get an appointment with the GP so that's not happening.. not that I have months to spare being unable to do my usual things anyway.. I can't see anyone else doing school runs and housework!
I brought 8 things off the line and aired them in the dryer.. that is it for todays flying!

It was quiet on the thread this morning, and I really missed round's usual greeting to start the day. Hope you're ok, round x
I have done WMx6 today, including DH's bedding, and managed to get some of it almost dry outside between showers.
Went to the horse piddle at 11.00 and found DH very poorly and having more trouble breathing. I had to be home again by 2.00 because K had promised to come and help me re-make his bed and clean his room, but by 5.30 I was back at the horse piddle. DH had perked up considerably - the ABs are clearly taking effect - though he is now being given oxygen. He is waiting for a bed on a ward, so I doubt that he'll be home before Saturday.
I've updated the family via text message and rung his sister. Once I've hung the washing on the airer in the bathroom, I'm off to bed.
Sleep well, everyone xxx

OH has run out of garden to garden.. I suggested he got an allotment.. is it a truly stupid idea? He could spend time with the girls.. Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays when he hasn't other stuff to do.. grow us some veg and fruit and herbs ( I am thinking of building myself a kitchen apothecary.. it is my latest fad.. lol) and I think he would love it.. or am I crazy... How many hours a week do you spend on your lotties?? There are lots about 5 minutes walk from the house.. I think it just gives him a relaxing escape.. when I am being a joy.
