P and S have been for a coffee.
I walked to the gate to escort them off the premises, and cleared a patch of bindweed growing between the cotoneaster and the pampas in the front garden. Then pulled up the goosegrass growing under the conifers in the back garden. Then pulled up some of the grass growing in the moss on the back yard.
Every little helps.

Hello everyone
Hope you are all making the most of the lovely Bank Holiday weather.
I’m so sorry I’ve been absent in putting up any posts, all you see is me putting up the daily thread and then disappearing. It’s not intentional it’s just I’m not really flying, as such, and I don’t want to bore you all with my whinging/whining or moaning about my ails…
Plus I’ve been nursing a wound just like Iona. About a fortnight ago I fell over our front door step on the way out and literally landed halfway across the drive saying hello to DH’s car… I did a fair bit of damage to my knee and my bad arm and bruised myself pretty badly. Then while I was nursing my wounds from that, three days later I literally fell over in the bathroom with my leg and foot going under me. Even more bruises to add to my collection. But this time I also managed to knock the bottom of my spine as I fell over. So as you can imagine I had a plethora of bruisies from my back down to my foot. At the moment I’m still waiting for the swelling on my knee to go down as well as the pain to subside. When I went to see my Dr regarding my persistent cough he checked my leg and said it would heal but nothing broken just a very bruised knee and back, and muscular pains in my knee and leg too just like poor Iona. All I can say is I’ve been feeling very sorry for myself and in a lot of pain, plus annoyed with myself that I can’t do anything much to help DH with decluttering the spare rooms. As well as sorting out the rest of the house, like the living room etc. The joys of getting older now and I don’t like it..lol
Oh and I also had a blood test 3 months ago which showed I have a suspected underactive thyroid too which would explain why I cannot shift the weight even though I’m doing Slimming World online, as well as changing what I eat as per the Dr’s instruction. I’ve even put weight on… Anyway I had a three month blood test last week so hopefully it’ll show the thyroid is still playing up and they can get medication sorted out. Then I should be able to start losing the weight again…well that’s my thinking..lol
I am so sorry for lumping it all on you…
But I am loving living here in Mid Wales, it’s so different from back in North Kent. And everyone is so friendly and the place is much nicer. We went to a Scarecrow Festival at the weekend in Borth, which is 10 mins from me, and had a picnic on the sea front. It was so lovely, clean and just a joy to sit there watching the world go by. Then I popped to my sisters, at the zoo, and stayed there for a couple of hours.
DH is going to buy us both electric bikes when I have healed so we can explore the area around us. Expect more bruises as I haven’t been on a bike since I was 16yrs (40 yrs ago) so it should be interesting, although I’m not using it to go long distances I’ll only be going to the garage shop down the road or the post office..maybe to the woods but that is as far as I’ll go…lol
Here’s my list for today or the rest of the week:
· Open windows
· Water Plants#
· Declutter chairs, floor
· Vacuum floor
· Clean dusty units
· Clean glass doors
· Vacuum the stairs
· Binbag dance
· 15 minutes hotspot
· S&S kitchen worktops
· White wash
· Tidy dining table, put on clean table cloth once I’ve found a clean one

Thanks for all good wishes/hugs.@Valli I'm so sorry to hear about your mum - that must have happened whilst I was AWOL. Good that she is recovering well though and hope she can come home soon.@ionafan what a nightmare but thank goodness it wasn't anything serious.@Goodintentions what a shame about all your plants being eaten. Hope your new ones don't suffer the same fate. A's cousin, who came for lunch on Weds had previously (about 3 years ago) given us some tomatoes that he had grown and they were absolutely delicious. When they arrived he said, 'oh I know you like tomatoes' so I thought, goodee, he's brought some of his delicious tomatoes (although on reflection I suppose it's too early for UK home-grown toms). Anyway, he hadn't brought any tomatoes but presented us with a small tomato plant.I've never grown tomatoes, and neither has A, but hopefully it will produce something. It will need re-potting as it's in a tiny pot and presumably it will need a sunny windowsill. I already have Tomovite which I use to feed some of the house plants so can give it that. Any advice gratefully received though. This morning I emptied the kitchen bin and took the rubbish and a bag of recycling down to the bins and bought a paper and then met a friend from church for coffee. On the way I noticed a book in the window of a charity shop; the book was entitled Pipe Dreams: Water and Empire in Central Asia's Aral Sea Basin. A rather niche topic I think! After coffee I came home and made lunch, WUPA the lunch and breakfast things S&S in the kitchen and bathroom, fiddle-faddled around, made tea and am now about to wash up again.

We went a walk 1st thing to local small G C but we were too early so returned home avoiding sharp showers.
Hope everyone is ok. Natty & Iona hope you aren’t overly doing things.
Bed changed and bed side shelves sorted.
back to work tomorrow I have been there over 2yrs 4months already.
must pop in more often x9 -

I had a fairly good journey back from Dorset yesterday, visited Mum in the morning and left at 1.15 when she had lunch, checked out a couple of things at the hospital, stopped once on the motorway for a coffee but was home by 5pm. I sent her a text to say I'd arrived and she replied, so has clearly remembered how to use her phone (memory is patchy although the stroke consultant says that should improve). I had a nice email from SIL who had visited in the afternoon and taken Mum outside to a small lake in the hospital where she watched the ducks and some rabbits.
Today I sent her a text to say good morning and I'm just going swimming - she rang me back saying she'd forgotten how to text but knew how to use the phone! However she sounded pretty bright and cheerful and I know she has 2 friends visiting today, one morning and one afternoon so hopefully she won't get too bored, especially if they move her to the promised 'chatty ladies' ward.
- unpacked case
- 2 loads washing done
- lovely lake swim
- inspected garden which the deer has decimated while we've been absent - it has eaten most of the pea plants and runner beans, lots of geraniums, hostas and various other things. Mr N spent a lot of time putting fencing up while I potted on lots of overgrown seedlings in the greenhouse and generally tidied so there was room for growbags etc. Still a lot to do in there and I've got 2 1/2 days before I go back to Dorset....during which time I have to finish the 2 reports that somehow I didn't manage to finish in between the hospital visiting and 'patient admin'.
- updated a few friends/relatives on Mum's progress.
Now continuing with a report.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -
@Natty68 - Maybe you should check with Mrs. S_D over in the Declutter's thread. She rides bikes too - but as a passenger either on the back of the bike or in a side car. Might be better to buy one bike and a sidecar to ride in. My sister does that too with her husband - even their dog like to ride in the sidecar at times.6

Tired of writing a report now in fact just generally tired, never mind I will easily finish this one tomorrow.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -
Good evening 😁
I spent a lovely day looking at baby paraphernalia in the Jubilee city. After much deliberation, folding, unfolding and general playing, a buggy (travel system) was decided upon. Money was handed over (thankfully not by me!). This buggy was quite a lot more expensive than DD1's (which I bought) but DD2'S mil was paying and happened to have cash on her for the sizeable deposit (they are builders - always have cash!). DD2 treated us to lunch, so a very pleasant day. I have said I will get the cot 👍
DH had done the food shop & emptied the DW. I haven't really done much!
Tomorrow I have the funeral of a school friend in the 3rd city of this county (12 years ago there were no cities, and now there are 3 - just like buses! 😂) My alarm has been set as it will be an early start (for me).
cog the tomato will need a decent sized pot & plenty of light. Do you have a balcony? I assume the flowers will need pollinating to produce fruit 🤔
Hugs, sticks & spoons to those that need them. Night night all x6 -
Thanks Narco, and sorry I tagged Valli instead of you when commenting about your mum.@Goodintentions no, we don't have a balcony. I'm not sure about pollination - perhaps I could leave it next to an open window and a friendly bee might come by and help out. : I could leave it next to the lavender pot - lavender is supposed to attract bees isn't it?We rang our elderly friend in Plymouth. He thought we were annoyed with him because we didn't ring last week and my weekly card (posted on Friday as usual) had not arrived so he thought we weren't writing either. His nephew had told us he didn't feel well enough to take calls. Anyway, we were able to reassure him that we weren't annoyed with him and I had sent a card, which hopefully will arrive tomorrow.Made supper and WUPA everything. Put out A's breakfast things and gave 2/3 night time eye meds. He's already in bed but needs to get up and clean his teeth and have his last eye med but I've twice tried to rouse him but he's very sleepy and doesn't want to know.8
