    Thanks @Poquito

I'll have a look at opening the basic account, or switching into my joint account. Less faff if the interest is unlikely.

Just done the switch, via a call to Nationwide, sales.
Due to the error with debit card issue.

Second Nationwide surprise this month. Glad I didn't move away from them.

Other half and I received an incentive the last time round for individual accounts. Would we qualify again if we now open a joint account? I am not fully clear on the T&C's if it is or isn't possible.

Also, would the account switched in also need to be a joint account or can we open a joint account and switch in any other as long as it is in either my or OH name?

1st joint will get the bonus even if you each had an individual incentive.
switched account does NOT need to be a joint account.

source? pretty sure T&C's but my personal experience last time around.

edit: wait for someone else to confirm as those T&C's look different to last times.
  • Hi a couple of questions from people I would guess are a lot more clued up than me please!

if you only have a Nationwide mortgage are you eligible for the £200 incentive?

Also I swapped over to TSB only in November and got the incentives for doing that. Is it too quick to swap that account across to Nationwide or is there no time scale on it? I’d rather keep my other beloved NatWest account!!

Thanks in advance - it’s a great offer from Nationwide!

Had to do this over the phone myself, similar problem to those above with the debit card, so was doing an exceptions form for it.

The lad on the phone was saying he was unaware of a problem being officially recognised but I was the third person he had that day with the same issue. Though other than a text, I haven't had any other communication since I started it yesterday (he said they would email but we will see!)

Thanks for the info, that might be another £200 we can bank. I haven't seen anything anywhere so I guess you can open the joint account first and initiate the switch after. Would need to move some DD over to the burner account first.

Does anyone know how Nationwide define an "active direct debit"? Are there any specific rules about first payment dates or frequency etc?

I'm wondering if it's sufficient for them to have been set up and have a payment set to go before the switch date or whether I need to wait for the first payment to go out before requesting the switch.

"If you’ve switched a sole or joint current account to us and previously benefited from a Nationwide current account switch offer since 18 August 2021, you will not qualify for this offer." - I think you're excluded.
