Another £8.31 spent here, was being lazy and was at shoe shop with kids so popped into iceland which is next door!!
But i only got what i needed!!
I wouldn't say that was being lazy dlb....
There are some good bargains to be had in Iceland...
And you didn't use any more petrol going to a different shop.
Very MSE
And as you say... You only got what you needed. Well done :T0 -
Hi all, well I managed to spend another £5 yesterday, Tesco had a 2 for £2 offer on radox bath stuff and I was stiff as a board after my first proper day back at the gym on Saturday so I got tempted. Also picked up some spinach for salads and 10 eggs. So this is good going really. Have dinner already cooked for tonight and tomorrow night (veggie mousakka with spinach salad) and have Wed night and Fri night pretty much planned (couscous with roast veg and feta, lentil salad) so that just leaves Thursday which may well be beans on toast or pasta and pesto. Def don't need any more food till next weekend unless we run out of fruit which we hopefully won't.
KBL just to let you know typhoo is also on offer in tesco for half price. I have always been fussy about tea too but have recently discovered that asda own brand loose tea is only 59p for the same amount that costs £1.68 in punjana and tastes fine. At the minute I'm mixing half and half.
Oh and on the tea issue can we please stop talking about biscuits since I am at least a stone away from having anything to do with them
Also to report back that I really do think the breadmaker is saving us money. To date I have spent the least money I have ever spent in one month. Okay partly to do with the Xmas stock but I would have spent at least £20 a month on bread and so far I have spent £2.20 on flour. One bag of flour makes at least 3 loaves (more like 4) and at 45p that's pretty good going. So definitely a convert here!
Hope things are good for you all...0 -
Just a quick update....
I spent £1.20 on bread at the weekend in the corne shop and then £3.95 at Tescos to buy dog food and toothpaste (dog is going into the kennels whilst I am away in Japan).
I'm off to Japan on Sunday until the following Friday so I'm trying to use up all of the fresh stuff this week and will live out of the freezer and cupboards on my return until the end of the month (2 weeks:eek: ).
So my new total is £88.82 (£11.18 left until 31st Jan but freezer and cupboards are bursting!)0 -
Have spent £24.94 out of £150 so £125.06 left for remaining 4 weeks. Have far too much in the way of fruit and veg so have cancelled next weeks organic order which will save me £13.84. I have loads in the cupboards and freezers so not going to worry just yet, didn't really need what we did buy but panicked!:oOur days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.
Jan grocery challenge £35.77/£1200 -
Hi all,
Can I join in the January grocery challenge? Need some motivation and support to stick to a better budget - and stop throwing away food that I've wasted. So....my budget for the month (starting January 5th) is £160. £40 a week. That will be all my food, cleaning and toiletries. Eating out will be another budget (oh dear!) and hopefully very very small!

Included in this week's totals are bits towards 2 b'day prezzies; a new broom [cuz I didn't get it from Santa!] & posh razor blades that I'm supposed to be getting the money back for. Last week's spend also included the last bit of an xmas prezzie for one of the offspring that I couldn't get before.
So this week is: £38:20 to Mr T; 2:44 J Graves; 1:49 '99p' shop; 20:14 Wilkies; 3:19 independant fruit shops; 1:89 Superdrug making a grand total of £67:26 spend.
£350:00 minus [13:84+ 67:26] = £268:90 for the next three weeks...seems OK to me so far:oFull time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

Our current grocery budget for just two of us is a ridiculous £200 and I would love to cut it substantially. Also, what do people define as groceries - should I include general household items such as bathroom cleaning products etc? I would normally include almost any household disposable of that type in my budget.
I used to spend £200 per month on just the two of us, sometimes even more but now got it down to £150 - £160 with plans to reach £140. It includes cleaning, toothpaste etc but have cut out a lot of cleaning pruducts since using vinegar and stardrops. Making a mealplan for the month stopped all the waste in our house and reminds me to get meat/meal from freezer the night before. Cook everything from scratch now.0 -
Ive done another Tesco shop this morning, just a few little bits again, which takes my spend so far up to £36, so just about a quarter of my budget gone in just under a quarter of the month and hopefully I have enough in to avoid the shops for another few days.
will read back and comment in a mo.0 -
ive updated mine and for this week im under target but thats because we had a load in the freezer/fridge/cupboards anyway - will make a dent when i have to do a proper shop but im stalling as we still have quite a bit of stuff to use yet! Have just ordered the online shop with Mr T and it will come to around £74 inc. delivery but excluding special offers.
Someone mentioned problems with ASDA deliveries being late. I used to have deliveries from ASDA but found their selection and delivery left much to be desired. I have used Mr T now for a couple of years and found their substitutions are reasonable and the staff very amenable. Of course, I suppose it depends from which centre one's stuff comes from, but I have no problems with Tescos at all.
Well done everybody and good luck for the rest of January.
Love the FM0
