i know, lovely arn`t they.
I thought with the grocery challenge that i shouldn`t have any but the smart price ones in Asda are 24p for a huge pack and the choccie digestives are 27p so my little indulgence is suddenly affordable.:D
I buy tesco value choc digestives and custard creams, love them. If I could get some of their value bourbons too I'd be in heaven :happyhear
and this is me, who 12 months ago would have sniffed at anything but a McVitie's Chocolate Digestive :rotfl:... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Morning All!
I went to Lidl with DH and DSx2 in tow yesterday evening and just managed to stick to budget. in spite of allowing Hubby to get a tub of raspberry ripple ice cream even though we have vanilla at home.
I've tried the dishwasher tablets though and they did the business on last night's meatballs in tomato sauce meal (homemade with leftover Christmas sausagemeat and beef mince out of the freezer - and by DH so it tasted wonderful!). We'll be ditching the brand leader from now on!
Frugal day today and starting over with next week's budget on Monday, when the boys start back at school.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone!
scotrae could you please tell me how you did your meatballs as we have some pork sausagemeat in the freezer (reduced) and have never had meatballs. did you serve them with spaghetti? married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090 -

Someone may be able to correct me on this, but my suspicion is that all bourbons (except possibly Lyons which are the wrong shape to be a bourbon!) are all made at the same factory. A couple of years ago a biscuit factory in Cumbria (well known company but I can't remember the name) was flooded when they had the really bad floods up there and there was a nationwide shortage of bourbons of any variety. I'm sure I read then that they make the country's bourbons. Because of this I only buy the Tesco Value ones (on the odd occasion I do buy biscuits - they last about a day in our house!).:D0 -
I always suspected that the bourbons all came from the same place. Love them. For once I enjoy something that isn't expensive.
Spent another £3.11 yesterday on potatoes, bread, painkillers, antacids and pasta sauce. Amazing where the money goes.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Chardonnay - I'll have to ask DH for his recipe for you as it's his speciality! Unfortunately we had to have pasta twirls because I refused to buy spaghetti on our trip to Lidl as i knew it was cheaper in Ts.
Today is the first day of our Week 2 and I've got a daunting shopping list to batter the budget with at the outset. I know that next month is going to be much more expensive as we've been getting away with using so much from our stocks ... but hopefully I'll have a new job by then.0 -
Well tesco came yesterday, added up to a bit more than i thought as I added a few more things on sat, completely forgot to order milk the first time! Was 70.30, bit high, leaves me with 18 pounds a week for the rest of the month for milk and fruit but shouldn't need to buy anymore meals. Its not alot but it is doable just need to be really strict and stick to it. Did suggest oh use whole fat milk and water it down so we could buy less than if we got semi skimmed but he wasn't keen.0
