Moniker - (Sorry I don't know how to quote your text into a reply) but just to let you know that alcohol is rammed full of carbohydrates - the worst culprits being beer/lager/bitter etc. wine is quite bad but preferable to a pint;) .
Your best bet for low carbs/low calories is clear spirit and diet mixer. Steer clear of Baileys and all things like that - diet misery!!! HTH!!

Back on thread...popped to a's for milk today (just milk!) and spent a fiver - on things I really didn't need.

LIDL still had the bread flour on offer for £0.48 yesterday.

Spent so far this month £115.28. We have been in Julian Graves yesterday to top up on the half price offer and spent £13.56. Very happy about this, as it includes lots of treats for DH and DS1 (they love nuts etc....) DS1 is only 21/2!

Banana loafs sounds interesting. Can anyone point me in the direction of a recipe?

OMG! I have only done one week of my challenge (£25 pw) and it nearly killed me! I have come in at £25.29, that's with freezer and cupboards full of food (after xmas), it has been so hard not to buy things. I have "needed" all those things I bought with my £25 (not), what's going to happen when I have to buy food?

Right, spent just over £20 today, will add it to my total in a mo. I'm thinking not going well so far but that includes what I think I will need for main meals for this week apart from carrots, packed lunch stuff, breakfasts for DS1, I think apart from fruit and carrots, we should be done for the week......and I have spent less than 1/3 of my budget.....could be worse I suppose.
One day I might be more organised...........

    Hi all
i`ve just updated my sig to take into account another overspend today :o but after spending an hour and a half reading all the posts since my last visit i don`t feel too bad about it, all of it was MS and i wouldn`t have been going anywhere near the shops i bought from in the next few weeks so i would have missed out.
Hopefully it should all average out over the next month.
Everyone seems to be doing so well thats it`s made me feel better as i was starting to get a little bit out of it and now i feel all inspired all over again :j i`ll really have to pop in a bit more often to keep going lol.
I cant remember the name of the poster who wanted easy things to make after working but someone suggester stir-fry, in Asda there are bags of ready made fresh stirfry veg at 54pence and all you need to do is tip them into a pan, they have lots of peppers, beansprouts, carrots etc and only take 5 mins to cook.
We tried one tonight and it was yummy together with potato wedges.

Went to Tesco today and spent another £11.97 arrrhhh, thing is I am trying to save up my T points and needed to use up a couple of points vouchers, one was for nappies though, so although I had enough for a couple of weeks anyway, that takes me up till the end of the month now, so would have spent the £6 anyway and the rest was mostly made up of a persil small and mighty (which at nearly £4 I would not usually buy as it is overpriced and I can't help but use too much) but got my points and at least I will use it!!! and some bin bags and some apples (half price bag of apples as my they keep my twins happy in the trolley so are well worth the spend)

off to update sig, I will count today as wk2 I think so as not to look too much over  .

One good thing though is I havn't bought any alcohol so far, dh is on tablets for his ear problems so isn't drinking (amazingly) and I am having the odd spirit with coke left over from christmas (I am usually a wine drinker but I want to cut down really) funny though, I had 2 (very small) whiskey and cokes last night, but it felt really weird like I was a 'proper drinker' but I would think nothing of quaffing wine odd...think I will leave the whiskey alone

Just a quick one, I have got some cooked ham in the freezer (around 10 cling filmed packs of various sizes/shapes) if anyone has any lovely recipes to use cooked ham in (especially pasta ones).we are having just ham, egg and chips tomorrow for tea (which I love) but I could do with some inspiration....:D

[Quick question though. Please can someone tell me how long they will keep? and if I could freeze one of them (if they don't keep more than a couple of days?? Any advice/hints/tips are very much appreciated. Thanks in anticipation.[/quote]

I normally make banana cakes in loaf tins and have had no problems freezing them. In fact I often cut mine in half and keep one half out and freeze the other half. The cake normally keeps in the cake box for about 5 days but gets a bit sticky after that!
    Hope this helps.
