Just been going through my receipts for this week.
Out of the £40 budget we spent £38 which looks quite good until I added the things that we didn't really need which totalled £16.58 DOH!
My OH's fault for buying EVEN MORE chocolate. As if we haven't got enough already!
Nay let me rephrase that, it was MY fault for letting him pop into the supermarket for milk.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
Well good start for me had budgeted £100 for my costco shop and £100 for the rest of the month but the costco one only came to £70.41. Did a Tesco shop as well so total for this week is £118.73. £81.27 left for the rest of the month but I am now well stocked up for most things.0

Wee bit late in joining but been keeping track of grocery spends and doing well so far. met my target in december.
Spent about £60 this month so far but over £50 was on an asda delivery shop - basics to last me the month. Lots of meals in the freezer too so going to aim for £100 for entire month.
See if its realistic for a long month - its for one person but I have boyfriend here at least one night a week.:j Debt-Free-Wannabe! :jDeclutter/Ebay/Savings0 -

Hello everyone,
Did my first shop of the month in Asda today, for the first time ever I took a shopping list with me and I only got what was on my list. Did however end up with 6 tins of corned beef instead of 1, they were on offer 6 tins for £3.00, bargain.
Spent £36.80.

Actually this should be called ‘posting blues’ as I just did a long spiel only to have it go missing when I submitted it – grr!
Anyway, as I was saying – back to work tomorrow after a two week break and I need to get myself better organised if I am to complete the GC and get my OH and I to lose some weight. You know what it is like – things get a bit slack over the festive season! (Unfortunately, now the waistbands aren’t slack enough and the belts definitely need tightening!)
I have seen a new ‘plan’ (aka diet) which involves not eating carbohydrates after 5pm. This sounds fine but is not so easy to manage when you work full time and have to eat your main meal in the evenings. Any suggestions for menus would be gratefully received (though please nothing too spicy – we don’t knowingly eat garlic or curries etc!)
I have just finished clearing up after cooking a roast chicken for OH me and MIL at lunchtime and making an apple sponge with some apple I found in the freezer. We will have the chicken cold with salad for tomorrow night’s meal and I have also made a leek and ham gratin for Tuesday in an attempt to get a bit ahead of myself. Oh, and I made a batch of Twink’s hob nobs but those are going to be strictly rationed (before 5 pm of course!).
One good thing is that I will not be spending any money on booze for a few weeks as we still have 10 bottles in the cupboard leftover from Christmas as we got several liquids gifts as well as the case I bought in November. So with the new healthy regime we should be able to make some savings there. (Is alcohol a carbohydrate does anyone know?)
And I have my secret weapon – my Nectar points still unspent which I am going to use at the end of the month when I am broke and which are worth about £50!
Well I have got the tree down and the decorations put away for another year. My step counter says I have done over 10,000 steps today just doing normal stuff like cooking and tidying – it’s amazing how they tot up! Let’s hope we can all keep our New Year’s resolutions – whether it is to eat more healthily or eat more frugally. Good luck everyone, especially to all you newbies.0 -

hello Mike :hello: or should we call you FM now? or is that Sir FM??
I havent spent anything so far. I was ill last week and ran out of fresh milk but using long life which is fine, I'm even getting used to the taste of it in tea. I'm living out of my stores this month as I want to build my saving pot up a bit. I have a meal list written down to the end of the month and beyond and apart from fresh milk, fruit and veg I shant be needing anything. unless I feel compelled to buy chocolate of course ...... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Hold the shift key (the one you use for capital letters) and the number 3 - that's if your keyboard is set to UK English
Thanks. You wouldn't think I'm a former secretary would you? Normally my keyboard only does # and the computer recently hasn't been letting me change from American settings to English ones. Strangely enough it's allowing me to do it now! I thought there would be some amazing way of doing it (ASCII doesn't work on MSE). You have been coming to my aid quite a lot these past couple of days :T:A

Hi everyone,
I can't keep up with all of these posts!! Just reading a few when I get the chance. I went to Asda today to do the weekly shop, and spent more than I intended, but got lots of meat/chicken for the freezer so should not need any more for the rest of the month. It should just be fruit/veg/milk/bread for the rest of the month. Managed to avoid buying any sweets and treats too which can only be a good thing.
Well done to all of you who are sticking to your target. I have used more than half of my budget now, but should still be ok (I hope!).
