Well done everyone and see you in the Fab Feb challenge0 -
right that's it, stick me down for £170 for Jan.
not too bad an effort all things considered. we've learnt a lot in a short time, and are changing our attitudes as we go through.
so much money saved and you guys are a lot of the reason for it.
and for that i thank you all deeply and sincerely.Trying to be good, not always succeeding. :A:beer:0 -
Lingojingo I personally don't like the taste or texture of Estima, & have found WILJA to be an excellent all round spud. This is from a family dedicated to fluffy roasts & smooth mash:D
They need a wee bit more cooking than Maris Piper or King Edward, but taste very similar & are cheaper too.
HTH & good luck with the Challenge.
Thank you bigMumma, if they're a bit like maris piper i think we'll give them a go and see how we get on. It will save me buying the bus ticket to go to town (£3.50 round trip now:eek:) so I won't be tempted to get other things we don't really need.0 -
Thats me done £199.43 spent. 57p underbudget. Really pleased. Was spending over £500 on average before!!! Going to try really hard for February as well, but may be harder due to using up lots of cupboard stuff and freezer in January. Off to the February thread now, but will check back here later and tomorrow to see everyones totals. Well done :j :j :j0

well all finished for the month now.
I came in exactly £2 under budget in the end - 3p to spare for the food side and £1.97 for the non-food stuff.
Really chuffed and have knocked £20 off next months challenge budget so the challenge begins again.
See you on the other side!
Lil_me my final total was £148.00 if you could update please and thank you.0 -
Well I've finished, well under budget
but I was using up lots of surplus from Christmas, and haven't had my usual delivery from Mr. T (used to have one every 3-4 weeks, but now gone over 6!). Also lack of cupboard space some of the time due to having new kitchen fitted.
I'm keeping the same target for February as I'll need to stock up big time before long.
Lil_me my final total was £113.68 if you could update please and add me to February for £250, thank you.0 -

My final post in the January grocery challenge and I'd just like to say thank you to everyone here and to all the 'live on 4k' challengers who joined me over here - the grocery challenge is brilliant and really helps people to focus on their food bills. Well done to all who beat their budget and, for those who didn't quite manage it this time, there is always next time!
Think of the amount you saved just by joining this challenge and see you in the February thread
