Hi everyone
another NSD for me today :T :T . I have now finished my month....can't wait to get shopping tomorrow and start my Feb challenge (how sad is that! )
so Lil_me, please put me down for a final spend of £159.53 for January.
Yipee!!!!!...that's the first time since last June that I've hit my budget. (I'm ashamed to say it's only because I overspent so hideously in December that I managed it in January)
See you all over on the February thread, keep up the good work0 -
one more day to go. NSD today, but I did make some soup, sponge cake and gingerbread for lunch boxes. Don't need to buy anything else before the end of this month, but I won't confirm my total till tomorrow night. I've made my shopping list and planned our menu for the month, so hopefully we'll get off to a good start for February. Can't wait to go shopping........:j0

It's going to be a NSD today so I've officially finished! Came in £2.66 under budget - it would have been £10.68 but I popped into Sainsburys and brought 2 bottles of wine to celebrate! I'm definitely doing it again next month!
Lil_me, could you please put me down for a final spend of £247.34 for JanuaryIt's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.0 -
Boy am I glad its finally the last day of the month.
Ive survived, Im so proud. And Ive just taken tonights ingredients out of the freezer - usually takes me half a day to remember. Just had to make a slight ammendment due to the lack of cheese til tomorrow.
Im quite busy with the kids today but I may go an 'invest' the remainder of my toiletries budget on whatever we use thats on offer, just to help Feb along. I wont declare my total yet in case I go out again.0 -
Lingojingo I personally don't like the taste or texture of Estima, & have found WILJA to be an excellent all round spud. This is from a family dedicated to fluffy roasts & smooth mash:D
They need a wee bit more cooking than Maris Piper or King Edward, but taste very similar & are cheaper too.

wow just read back and everypnes done really well. Lots of people finished for the month now.
Is anyone planning on spending anything today? looks like most people are done!
Im really looking forward to Feb's challenge, so much so, I went ahead and worked out my budget every month til June.
Do you all find you spend less in summer? I know I eat less and hoping this will be reflected in the shopping bills, but never having calculated my spends in summer I dont know how much difference it will make.
I cant stop eating at the mo with the cold weather.0 -
i'm not posting till probably tomoro, or at least after lunch, as i don't trust myself.
having said that, altho we have gone slightly over budget, i think we've done pretty well for a first month effort, we didn't do a propoer check but going on our own calcs, and on how much more money is in the bank this month, we reckon we were going on for £400 or so a month on food, a shocking amount of which got thrown away. so well pleased whatever the outcome. :jTrying to be good, not always succeeding. :A:beer:0 -

GROCERY BUDGET JAN 2008 £240
TOTAL SPEND £203.26 :THow does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0 -
I've not been on here in ages - my younger son has developed worrying headaches, and I have been looking after/fretting about him
I came in under budget for January I spent £358.56, and my budget was £420. I may make the budget lower for February
There were pages and pages and pages of posts since I was last on, so apologies for not thanking everyone - everyone is doing brilliantly, though.
Blushing Rose - one thing I noticed - the handwash you bought - you don't say what size but if they are 500 ml you can get the Tesco value one for 40p or 45p for their own brand (which is lovely). I know it's only a little thing, but every little helps (now, where have I heard that before).

I had to buy a few things this morning, but am now finished for January - I spent £377.59 out of my budget of £400, so am quite pleased with myself.
Well done to everyone. I hope your son is OK TheDoolallyDilly.0
