  • Even epics have an end.... you should get payments and decision letter soon... and hopefully that will calm your anxieties. Someone else advises you look at getting help for your anxiety... obviously we cannot give medical advice but I definitely think this is something to talk to doctor about with a view to getting referral for some sort of therapy as clearly it is highly disabling of mind. I suffer similarly regarding endless disaster and negative thoughts about everything but I have over the years found a way to impose my rationality at times to give a break... and that's the reason I'm not posting the same questions as you... because I am able to eventually suppress those thoughts with reason to the point they will only overwhelm me for short periods of lost control.
Hi, thank you for the advice, which I will take on board.

I have just phoned the automated PIP up, it seems the case manager went with my report as no points were deducted as I am on the higher rate of 737.20 and my first payment is on 15 July, but I will get my back payment this week. I am so happy that case manager went with my report. 🙂 it's such a relief.
    For all of us :D
Haha lol. Do you know how long it will take for back pay to go in my bank now?
Usually by about five working days after the decision.
Thank you. I am getting paranoid that my bank (Barclays) will bounce the large back payment, can this happen? as I have read that many people's pip back payments bounced back. This has got me worried.
No I've not heard of this happening, why would it?. I had a backdate of several thousand of PIP and there was no problem. Did you read that on a Facebook group? They  are terrible sources of information ignore them.
Thank you Danien, I just wanted to know. No, I read it on other forums, not facebook, but most of them have got Monzo bank account.
Payments don't bounce back unless the payment info is wrong, so don't worry.

You really need to get help with the catastrophising you do. I would suggest referring yourself to iapt and getting some cbt to help you manage it. It must be exhausting to constantly think everything will go wrong.
Well, I never had a large payment go in my bank account all in one go as I only get £369 a month for my UC before this PIP, so I don't know how it works. But, they is nothing wrong with me. :)
There is nothing wrong with you? You said part of the reason you're claiming PIP is mental health issues, and you've been awarded top rate PIP, so there is obviously SOMETHING wrong or you wouldn't have been awarded anything. On this thread you've demonstrated severe anxiety and worrying about everything going wrong despite repeated reassurance abd advice. I expect you've probably been doing this on other forums too.

You don't have to take the advice. But cbt could at least help with these thoughts and worries that appear to consume you. It doesn't take away the underlying problem, but just helps a bit with management. I speak as a carer for someone with severe mental health issues which I help them manage.
Yes, I have social anxiety and all them things. I thought you meant that I am a bit simple or have learning difficulties, that's what I thought you meant.
No, I certainly wasn't saying that. My husband suffers severe anxiety and is virtually housebound, I am his carer. He is also highly intelligent. Mental health issues do not discriminate. I was speaking from a place of understanding and concern for the anxiety issues you have shown. I hope you manage to get some help.

People can be ignorant when it comes to who "should get PIP". My own partner has Schizophrenia and people have told me he shouldn't get it because they have the same condition and can't get PIP, or that they have MS, anxiety etc and can't get it or just that he must be "faking it". It's horrible because people don't see how he is when he is at home(which is most of the time) smashing holes in walls, covering the ceiling in tin foil, and shouting and screaming and never washing, changing clothes etc. ..

Ignore what others say if you are eligible it's nothing to do with them.

Which is why PIP isn’t provided on diagnosis alone.  Unless its extremely obvious eg your claiming mobility but walking 5K a day, then anyone who says your faking is either doesnt understand the process or is ignorant and not worth listening to.

@J@Jack_bauer24 the only person you have to explain yourself to is the assessor, they have agreed with you and in turn the DM has agreed with the assessor.  Youve done that so it’s simple, youve be awarded PIP, anyone else’s opinion isn’t worth listening to.

Silly articles claiming you can get PIP for Eye problems or menstrual cramps don't help matters. It ends up promoting the idea that diagnosis is all thats required, along with the general public thinking you can get PIP for minor conditions resulting in a negative perception.

I see my local newspaper and the mirror (same group) constantly having articles they post on facebook claiming you can get £600 a month if you have medical conditions x y z

You can claim mobility and walk 5k a day because as you know following and planning a journey doesn't consider your ability to walk.

  • Update: My backpay has gone in of £1658.70 and I made my PIP application on 15 April. Does this seem a correct amount to you? It seems really low for a backpay. I thought I would get more then this as I made my PIP application on that date above, unless its correct as I am not good with calculations, just looking for your opinons to see if its correct amount or not?
