YORKSHIRELASS said:Morning all
Remember how I said about our plans to spruce up the garden? Well we have worked really hard and made a big difference ready for family visiting today, and it's going to rain on and off all day with a high of 14 degrees. It really doesnt matter as hopefully I get both my boys and my brother here which I am so happy about!
Anyone heard from @Cloth_of_Gold, hope A is OK, thinking of you if you are around but not posting x
I had to throw the clean utility room rug in the WM last night as the dog peed on it. I was working for DH yesterday and that was the sum total of my Flying!
So today, quiches to make, quick hoover around, folding table to set up, ham to slice, crumble to make and laundry to take off the airer and put away. DS2 needs collecting from the station at some point and bedrooms need checking ready for DS and DB to stay tonight.
Hope it's a peaceful Sunday all xThanks for asking about us YL - I appreciate it.It's been a fairly busy week and for various reasons I've also felt a bit stressed/down and didn't feel like posting. I'll be ok - I just need to get a grip and stop feeling sorry for myself, which I have absolutely no right to do. A has had his usual ups and downs but is basically ok. The GP has referred him to the community occupational health team (I think that's the name) for a home visit to see if there are any aids or adaptations they can suggest.
This week's flying summary: cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, 3 loads of washing and several of drying, the usual shopping, cooking, washing up, S&Sing and entertained A's cousin and his wife on Wednesday.Hope everyone's having a good BH weekend.7 -
Good to hear that your mum is doing well, Narc0 - I hope she gets a bed on a busier and more exciting part of the ward soon xx
Glad you're back with us, CoG x
Valli and round, I am envious of your knitting - used to love it, but my fingers are too awkward now.
Well, today didn't turn out as planned....
My intention was to go to church at 10.00, be back home by 11.45, finish the dusting [NB this was my planned flying] and put lunch on the table for 10 of us. I'd completed all the baking in advance, so it was really only a case of cooking sausages and putting out salad bits and the jacket potatoes that DS1 was bringing ready-cooked.
You may remember that about 10 days ago I twisted my knee. Yesterday it was extremely painful, and in the evening I realised that not only was my right leg very swollen, but I also had a new sharp and very persistent pain that I hadn't felt before. At 10pm I rang 111 and was told that an out-of-hours GP would ring me back within 6 hours. I went to bed, but of course, with all the possible outcomes racing through my brain, I got hardly any sleep. The doctor rang at 3.15 and said that I should go to our main horse piddle and be checked over in Urgent Care in case it was a DVT. I packed a bag, just in case; DH drove me there, and we sat in the UC waiting area from 4.06 to 8.15. I'm not criticising the NHS: the department wasn't busy, but on the night shift there was only one doctor on duty, who seemed to take half an hour with each patient, and of course (rightly) babies and young children were given priority. At 8am the day staff came on duty in greater numbers, and the growing queue suddenly started moving a lot quicker. From UC I was sent to Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) - used to be called Ambulatory EC, and it's certainly a long walk from UC, right down the other end of the main corridor!!! Apparently SDEC doesn't open until 8.00, so even if I had been seen earlier in UC, I would still have had to wait. Here I was subjected to a barrage of tests, x-rays and scans. Finally at 11.15 I was told I didn't have a DVT, it was probably just muscular pain, and I could go home, keep my leg elevated as much as possible, see my own GP for better pain relief, and basically stop trying to do so much. Great - but now it was too late to do lunch as planned! And by now Rosie had been on her own for 8 hours.
DS1 came to the rescue and had told DS2 to drive to his house instead of mine. We called in home to reassure Rosie and pick up some of our food to take with us to DS1's (strawberries and coffee cake being the most important, plus various salad bits). Since it was now far too late to start cooking sausages, DS1 had made a delicious chilli to go with the jacket potatoes, plus a large apple crumble - nevertheless my cake and the strawberries did not survive the onslaught of 4x DGC and their equally enthusiastic parents. It was a delicious meal and great to have my two boys and their families together. We stayed until 3.00, then came home and - unsurprisingly - spent most of the afternoon asleep.
So the dusting is still not done, but I've given DS2 his birthday card and present, and his own coffee cake to declutter, as well as the winter jasmine roots that I had potted up for him. And I've done WMx1 this evening.
In future I shall need to take a deep breath and try to pace my flying rather better... Will see you on the new thread! xxx8 -
