roundtuit said:piggers - DS had his first sleepover at Ulceby. Year 7. He never wanted to sleep over before that. Then his first one was at Ulceby. Middle of nowhere. Can I ask why DH went there? Work delivery maybe?

Cracking on with knitting the sleeves for Beanies jumper.

I've barely read thread but jumped in to ask for strength and prayers as my mum had a stroke yesterday, I drove down to Dorset yesterday afternoon. Mr N is with BIL half an hour away as BIL had a hernia op today. Very scared although seems it is likely to be life changing rather than life threatening but who knows at 92. I can't do loss.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9

(((Hugs))) for you and Mr N, Narc0, and prayers for your mum and your BiL xxxx
(((Hugs))) to round - I hope tomorrow is less fraught for you x - and more (((hugs))) for YL x Jazee x and Fayolle x
I did the minimum of flying first thing this morning, then drove to Millennium City centre to do a recce in advance of my friends' wedding (on 5th June). It was a good thing I did so, as the council have shut off what used to be the entrance to the registry office off the ceremonial car park - ie the Mayor parks his limo there - and it is now accessed through the main Customer Services area. I then visited a cafe that I had found on t'Internet as a possible venue for a wedding breakfast: I was impressed with the quality of the food, found the coffee drinkable, and was bowled over by the low prices, so we (just the couple and two witnesses) will go there after the ceremony to make the day a bit special. I also found out how to gain vehicular access to a reasonably priced car park, in a city where at least half the streets have become one way or been blocked off at one end in the 15 years since I lived there, and - most importantly - how to find my way out again
My knee is getting better, so Rosie and I had a good walk this afternoon. The local builders have finished the scaffolding job, and there were no nasty bangs to scare her.
This afternoon DH actually completed his part of the travel insurance application linked to his (fee-paying) current account, then asked me to input my details, with the result that my insurance was quoted at £250 but cover for him was declined. He will have to start all over again with another company, but is expecting to have to pay through the nose if he wants to go abroad, even if we don't go beyond Europe. What actually counts as Europe nowadays?
This evening I enjoyed Chelsea and Sewing Bee, then stayed up late to catch up on the first episode of Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour which at times had me in more stitches than you could ever find in SB - it cheered me up no end
Bed now. I have left some gingernuts for the WAC but hope they're not needed xxx8 -
(((hugs Narco)) you may have all the painfree vibes we can muster for your mum and strength for you. You will survive whatever comes next, we are here, always, if I could be there I would be.. know we are thinking of you and lighting a candle for healing and surrounding you with love and light. My nanna had her share a couple of weeks ago so you may have all our spares.
My nanna is home for the time being.. she is on borrowed time.. at 95 .. She thinks her 71 y/o son is a little boy and still thinks all the women are me.. and she is crying for her husband who died in 1965 .. She's already had a couple of trips and stumbles but is adamant she will not go in a care home.
Getting older looks like a horrible thing.
Off to my nest.. Quavers and chocolate milk for the WAC.. if you warm up the milk you can call it hot chocolate
about 20 rows of the second sleeve and the neckband to do on Beanies jumper.. i can finish the emotional support chicken when my 10mm circular needle gets here tomorrow hopefully!

Hugs Narco and GWS wishes for your mum and BiL
Jazee…hope things between you and DD aren’t too fraught.
Pottered about today and sorted leftovers from stall. And my bags for life. I must’ve been thinking they conferred eternal life or something. I wouldn’t mind but i never actually BUY them… well I bought the Selfridges one…

Morning all xx
Love and hugs to Narc0 Xx
Thank you asb xx Your jiminy cricket magic was working on me before I woke up. So I'm not the jibbering wreck that I expected to be this morning. Chin up, shoulders back. I'm going to keep my head down and my mouth shut. Don't Trust Anyone is the best policy.
I'm up, made my bed, dressed, packed my lunch bag, completed Wordle and Connections, eaten my breakfast and supped my brew.
It's tipping it down.
Love to all
