My wife changed her name with Barclays in July and she was sent the old embossed design (1 x Blue 1 x Premier).I've yet to see any indication they physically exist yet.0

I imagine they want rid of old stock 1st, same with Nationwide, I got an old Nationwide style card recently the letter that came with it said something like we've updated our look but we still issuing old style cards however if you want a new style card they would be happy to send one.0

Looks like Barclays will start issuing new style debit cards once old stock is low & not many left not sure how long that will be!0

I've never really understood the point of vertical cards. For the number horizontal makes more sense as you can uae the width and have a bigger number and most wallets have horizontal card slots so having a horizontal card makes it easier to identfy the card. Most of the time when you use the card it will be on a contactless card reader so you'll be holding it at 45 degrees.3

I prefer the new style cards with details on the back0

I don’t mind the numbers on the back, but I dislike them as you cannot see which card it is when in a wallet. But what annoys me more is they tend to be very flimsy as well, old style cards, also the current nationwide cards, are thicker and more sturdy. I have a few new style cards which are falling apart at the edges with plastic falling off.1

I've found flat cards to be much better at not looking immediately looking knackered than glossy embossed ones.1
