I've never really understood the point of vertical cards. For the number horizontal makes more sense as you can uae the width and have a bigger number and most wallets have horizontal card slots so having a horizontal card makes it easier to identfy the card. Most of the time when you use the card it will be on a contactless card reader so you'll be holding it at 45 degrees.
I agree. I don’t see the point of them being vertical. I have to turn some cards upside down to recognise which bank is which in my wallet.
I am assuming the discussion about vertical and horizontal is what we generally consider to be portrait and landscape.

From the cards I have there is very clear differentiation between banks and styles and therefore accounts. My Barclays Visa Credit is portrait and silver.  My chase current debit is landscape and blue, Monzo and NatWest were very distinctive and although I have several other cards, as they are for parking debt or travelling they are not normally out and about.

Since the demise of manual voucher machines there is no need, for most of us, to have anything to indicate the account number or card details. I understand that these touch cards can be issued for blind and partially sighted people but for the rest of us it is just marketing.

Those graphics have been appearing since last spring haven't they? Not sure there's much to read in to here.

Is that your card? Was it replacement debit card? Looks plain & bland!

I like minimal designs but I'd prefer a horizontal card with the Barclays logo on the top edge so you can read it when it's in your wallet. That's what my Monzo card is like.
