Money Moral Dilemma: Should we cease contact with our daughter's ex-husband who owes us money?

sell the £14k debt to a debt collector. They’ll take perhaps 10% fee, you can keep the remaining £12.6k. Everyone is happy.
If your daughter doesn’t want you in contact with them surely that’s more important than money anyway.0 -
Well if he is mad at their daughter that would be a sure way to make him mad at them too & completely deny the debt.

I think given that debt collectors buy debts from financial institutions for around 10% - 30% of the balance, it's extremely optimistic to think they'd buy a debt off a member of the public, one which we're not sure has any formal agreement behind it, for 90% of the balance.Benny2321 said:sell the £14k debt to a debt collector. If the repayments of the loan are through the daughter in some way, then we have a potential problem. If on the other hand, the repayments are being independently paid back, then l can not see the problem, other than the daughter's disdain for her ex and wishing her parents would have nothing to do with him. I can't help thinking that if all the monies were paid back to the parents and then they said to their daughter, we would like you to have it towards a fresh start, what would her reply be?0
