@Asparklierblonde it's soooooo long since I was in the 'dating' market and will probably never be again but my advice, fwiw, is, as others have said, just to take it slowly. There is only so far you can go with texting though isn't there, so at some point if you think you might want to take it further you will need to meet to see if you 'click' irl. I'm not sure that asking too many probing questions is a good idea at this stage. Of course you have to be careful but equally he might be a very nice and genuine man (there are a few around!) and it might be a bit off-putting to be grilled, however nicely. If he seems to be someone that you want to get to know better, and he feels the same about you, you can find out gradually about his attitudes and history what 'baggage' he has and whether any of it is an issue for you and that he is genuine.Although I am not an expert on dating (it was called courting when I was young. I used to get really fed-up with elderly women asking if I was courting yet , which I never was, of course) I am, however, quite an expert on age difference lol. At this stage I don't think that the age difference needs to be an issue; 10 years isn't that great once you're well into adulthood anyway. My father was 9 years older than my mother and they had a very strong marriage. The most important thing is that you share some interests and his attitude to life is similar to yours, or at least compatible with yours, and that he is kind and considerate. As essential as those things are, you still need to feel that there is that something else that takes him beyond being simply someone you could see as being a friend. That might take time to develop though and also needs to stand the test of time because it is easy to be swept up in one's emotions, so you also need to keep your sensible hat on. Although I don't know you at all well of course, you strike me as being very sensible and 'grounded' so I'm sure that you will deal with things well, whatever happens. You deserve someone really lovely and I find it impossible to believe that you won't find him, whether it's this man or someone else.@pigpen, I would be no use with heavy lifting as I have a chronic knee injury, although I can just about change a light bulb; being tall helps. I do make a mean cake though and I'm good at arranging food attractively on a plate.@Ionafan, I hope that your eye appointment went well yesterday.@Valli I hope you're feeling better now@roundtuit , I hope that your day has got better and that you can get to the bottom of the data breach - its being made worse by the way they are handling it, isn't it?I had a bit of a panic last night as A developed quite a temperature. We have one of those contactless thermometer 'guns' and at one point it said his temperature was nearly 102! I wanted to call 111 but but he wouldn't let me so I had a very worrying night. He said he felt ok though and he wasn't confused or anything, which reassured me a bit. His face was very red but then it often is as he has this skin problem which flares up every so often. This morning his temperature had come down, then it went up gain, but not as badly as before. After lunch he said he felt tired and went back to bed for a while. I took his temperature a few times and it gradually came back to normal. I don't know if it was linked to his tooth extraction but it was too quick for him to have developed an infection from that. I hope whatever it was he's over it now. In other news I rang the podiatrist and booked him in for next Wednesday.Flying: S&S in the bathroom and kitchen, a bag of recycling taken down, sitting room and hall vacc'd, breakfast and lunch pots WUPA. I've also done a bit of online banking and ordered some cheap flip flops and a bar of this to wash our jumpers with. https://thesoapdairy.com/product/shear-delight-wool-wash-bar/ Despite all my moth prevention measures we have so many months appear each day. I moved a jumper earlier that had fallen on the floor and two moths flew out. They need washing anyway but I don't know if the low temperature that you have to use will kill any eggs if there are any but I'll be very unhappy if I lose all my jumpers to the critters again this year. I popped to the shops this morning for a few bits and also had my hair cut.

pigpen said:CoG.. freeze the items and put them in ziplock bags to store. Thanks I'll try that. Some things are too big but I could probably do it with the jumpers. I'll have to get some big freezer bags as the one's I have won't be big enough to fit a jumper in. Do you get moths there? We didn't use to have them but it started a few years ago and in the last couple of years it's got much worse.Supper made, washing up done and hob cleaned. Rang our elderly friend in Plymouth - he's 89 in September. He sounded very tired and said he has little energy these days but he struggles on. It's lovely to talk to him but it also makes me feel a bit sad as he obviously finds everything very difficult now.7

Morning all xx
It's Friyayyyyyy and I'm up, made my bed, dressed, packed my lunch, eaten breakfast, completed Wordle and Connections, and supped my brew.
I sent an email to DPO yesterday querying the conflicting information I'd been given, highlighting the conflict of interest for HR, stating that as they hadn't informed me that it was an innocent error I was assuming it wasn't, and I mentioned that ICO advise that the organisation be given time to investigate before I take it further. Sabre rattling. In reply I received an email outlining the procedure and where we're at. Which was very helpful. With a hint of I was at fault for identifying the breach. Excuse me. Do not go down that road lady!
Valli - I'm not in a Union.
CoG - you hit the nail on the head. They're winding me up with their corporate smoke and mirrors.
Totally unrelated: A colleague directed me to a discussion forum on the intranet. And there's a chap on there who dares to say all the things that I think about the organisation. For example: Grease rises to the top. 🤣🤣 I can't brown-nose to save my life so I'm doomed. And I call out corporate bull💩 if directly confronted with it. If they ever sack me for telling the truth I'll go to the media. And I've told them that. Tbh I think they only put up with me because I'm good at my job. Not today though. When they put me on a job I can't do. Maybe it's a plot to make me leave? Paranoia rules OK.
Have a superdeduper day and I'll see you on the other side: weekend / 10 days off. 😊

Round.. You don't always need to be in a union to access their services when it comes to illegal activity. (family of union men here who have helped hundreds of wronged employees over the years) My Gt-Gdad was a massive annoyance to the country in the 20-60's my Gda, uncle, ex-parent and Step-da took over until the late 80's.. it is definitely worth asking!
OH and girls out for the day.. I'm having a cuppa and trotting off to get my nails prettied. I have several items to find and package.. and a weird one where the payment hasn't cleared immediately and is saying 1 business day. I can't even access any information to plan its collection.
Headache is lingering so I am drugging that thing too.
Off to get ready for my appointment.. should be fun as my thumb is really sore.

Natty - I'm sure if you went out on a date one of us would be your checker upper xx
I'm home. It's the weeeeekeeeennnd and I'm on Annual Leave. Did I mention that? I had a good day despite my expectations. Challenging, exhausting, but not vile. I'm sure the power of Flylady was at work keeping things manageable. 😍
Traffic on my commute home was horrendous. Just like last Friday an abnormal load plus road closures = queues. It's going to be the same for the next two Fridays apparently....but I won't get caught up in it next Friday. Did I mention that I've got the week off? 😉
I've unpacked my lunch bag and put the bag in the laundry. I might write my To Do list for the week ahead....and I might leave it til tomorrow and just flump tonight. I can feel the stress oozing out of me ....
Bigs hugs to everyone.
