weenancyinAmerica said:Re-slugs - do those with slug problems know any one who raises chickens? Maybe they would like to come and get the slugs - understand chickens love them.More than one person on here raises chickens, @Asparklierblonde for example, so you are in the right place. I can't offer any advice myself as the only raising of chickens I've done is when I lift one out of my shopping bag to put in the fridge.Ionafan, I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow.Still finishing the TDing, but nearly there. Supper made and everything WUPA, eye meds done so just A's breakfast things to put out.I know many of you like playing word games so here is a crossword clue that a friend told me is one of his favourites. See if you can get the answer: Fish goes in before chips (one word).7

Good morning all xx
Overwhelming feeling of 'I don't want to go' this morning 🥴. Actually today should be OK. Tomorrow is looking iffy, Thursday OK, and Friday aaarghh. They've put me on my own on B&B on Friday. Seriously. I can do the basics but ..... and breathe. Let's concentrate on today to begin with. And bear in mind that I'm on Annual Leave next week. I can only do what I can do.....MW = not paid enough to stress. If only I had an on/off switch!
Anyhoo. I'm up, made my bed, dressed, taken my meds, packed my lunch, eaten breakfast and supped a brew. Completed Wordle with Phew!. Failed at Connections...only got one line....I think it was the sadistic setter today 🤣.
I'll feed the birds, fill the bird bath, and put out the recycling before I set off.
Turning right onto the main road after work is a total nightmare at the moment because of roadworks somewhere else. I'm already anxious about it and I haven't even arrived at TT yet. Get a grip woman. 🙄
P is really not well. Can't think about that right now. DS and his DF popped yesterday afternoon- they're allowed to pop. Not many people are allowed. DS says he'll come and cut the grass for me. I then plan to buy a lawnmower and keep it down. I showed DF my knitting and she is happy for me to carry on as her mum doesn't knit. Lots of wedding plans discussed. I need to get their discount code and book my room at the hotel for the night.
I must chase up the investigation into who accessed my medical record and why situation too. I'm not letting it drop.
I'd better go. Enjoy your day. Especially those of you who don't work on a Tuesday 😉

Shhh, but it’s sunny. I have stripped the bed, bedding in the wm and it will go on the line when done. I am off to the allotment shortly, Mr M delivery due at lunchtime, so that’s a deadline to work to. This afternoon I need to clean the bathrooms, wash my hair, and generally work myself up about having to go back to work tomorrow ☹️.
Have a lovely day all, I hope the sun is shining where you are too x6 -
Morning all. Lambing is nearly over for another year. Only one ewe left, she was scanned as a single. Must take some pictures for anyone who wants to see. Relatively few fatalities this year. Sheep, it is said, are just looking for a way to die! One lamb, triplet, who was born in the early hours, still had the membranes over it's head. One born dead, twin. One rejected by it's mum, who head butter and kicked it! We brought that one in, bottle fed it and put it in a box confront of the fire. Sadly it didn't make it. Mostly they've done ok. Now to keep them all alive long enough for them to go to market.
Flying can now return, at a minimal level, still lots of plants to tend.
ASB, I heard you on the radio too. Funny how when you get to know people on here, you build up a mental picture of them. You sound far less "yorkshire" than the asb in my head. I bet you're not as red headed either, or as tall.
Chickens, was it you that asked @weenancyinAmerica? Yes they will eat slugs, but also any fruit and vegetable plants they are near. I don't have time to collect the slugs to feed to the chickens, so we just have vegetables with holes.
Just put on some dough in the bread maker, going to have pulled pork rolls later.
Hugs, get well soon , well done, etc, to everyone. Not had chance to read the thread yet. Right off outside now, speak soon, hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxx

Morning all,
Sorry for being AWOL, I have missed you all!! Last week was crazy - busy with work, my hormones were bonkers, I went on a date (thanks again Kaz for checking I was ok). He was fab but two exes with loads of baggage, drama etc... not for me!!
Bless you for listening to me. I hope I didn't sound too much of a wally!! @Cloth_of_Gold its around 2 hours 21 mins I start waffling on. I was literally stood on the roadside with a tractor going past when they rang!! Kids were delighted to be name checked, even mentioned my ex I'm such a nice person lol.
@mumtoomany I am tall but no redhead - blonde! My friend said I sounded posh on the radio - I was obviously on my best behaviour! Glad lambing is almost done for you, you'll be clipping and hay timing before you know it!
Not much flying to speak off, however I have decluttered a few lbs which I am pleased about. Dry and warmish here but quite humid, fire still lit. Will it ever go out this year?!
I hope you all have fab days, and I won't be a stranger xx

Haha asb. Clue is in your name really! Yes soon be shearing time, but probably have time for them all, or most, to get fly strike first! And on the radio this morning, we've all to be on the lookout for bluetongue. Going to be a possible epidemic this year! Never a dull moment with animals.
Bread rolls made. More seeds sown. More runner bean plants in, to replace the ones eaten by rabbits!!! Coffee time now. Then water run for sheep, DW, S&S the kitchen, then more weeding.
Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxx

For anyone who wants to see them, lambs. Picture one is Tufty, with one of her twins, she thinks I've brought food! Picture two is big bear with his mum. He was the one who got stuck. His head was swollen and he looked like a teddy bear. Fine now. Picture three is Danny and Arnie, with their mum. Danny, first born, was tiny. Then his brother Arnie arrived, huge! Hence the names of the twins. Hugs to all, mumtoomamy.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.14

CoG
I hadn't forgottenBanana cake
1lb 3oz OR 500g ripe bananas, peeled
2 eggs, beaten
6 oz OR 150g brown sugar
4 oz OR 100g sultanas
8 oz OR 200g S R flour
(*If I am using chocolate chips (100g bag) I use caster sugar instead of soft brown sugar)
mash banana well. Add beaten egg, sugar and sultanas. Mix well then add flour. Turn into a 2lb loaf tin (lined) and bake for 1.5 hours 180 deg c/Gas 4
Remove from tin. Allow to cool. Store in an airtight tin. Best left for 24 hours before eating. Goes nice and sticky on the top.
