Busy day here:
- K cleaned all through the house, including behind beds and bedside cabinets - she found 10p behind mine, but £2.27 behind DH's: that just about sums us up with regard to how careful each of us is with our money! I told her she could keep the 2x£1 coins as a tip from DH
- I did WMx7 (including all bedding, baths and bath mats) and dried everything out on the whirligig; the last couple of loads are still enjoying the warm breeze
- Meanwhile L took Rosie out for her usual Monday walk.
- I cooked a sausage and pasta bake for lunch and a Tuscan white bean soup for tea, and gave K pasta leftovers and her share of the soup to take home with her
- I taught W how to use secateurs so that she could cut some sticks for the stems of her paper flowers, but once the cutting was done she promptly lost all interest in the flowers themselves.
- This afternoon W helped me make scones (and they were beautifully light) of which we ate 4 with a cuppa and K has taken another 4, leaving the last 3 for me and DH
- W has also done all her homework for the coming week and prepared for a spelling test tomorrow
I still have QHI to do this evening, but for the next hour I'm going to put my feet up!7 -
Hi all
Round I am embracing my "otherness" too. I went volunteering yesterday and was so outside my comfort zone as I had been paired up with this supercool very popular volunteer who always makes me feel like a drab, boring outsider. I also hadn't a clue what I was doing and she did. And I thought "I am here to help, not everyone has to like me, I will be myself and enjoy this" and I did!
Busy weekend, is it really work tomorrow? Flying has been minimal but I have made soup, tea bread, and granola for the week ahead. I need a plan for the week and I might just put my feet up for what's left of the bank holiday and schedule some flying in during the week.7 -
@YORKSHIRELASS I was with you in spirit yesterday and I overhead the other volunteers saying, 'oh we have this fab new volunteer and she's really cool and even though she's inexperienced she's working really hard. It's so good to have a new and willing person to help - I hope she comes back'. So there go you go.Piggers - I had to go and have a lie down after I read about your day yesterday. It was very wet this morning so I didn't get a walk unfortunately. Not too much flying done today either. Even though Bank Holidays don't have any real meaning for me anymore I thought I would pretend they did and take it a bit easier. Consequently all I've done is go out and get the paper, do some washing and drying (ongoing), do food prep and washing up and help A with some foot maintenance. His feet are in a bit of a state really but getting anything done by the NHS is very difficult. He has a phone appointment with a GP tomorrow so I've taken some pictures which I will send to the surgery before the appointment, which isn't until late afternoon. They really do need to do something.7

I need the loo so will fond while I am up there and sort food for the girls when I get down and do pack ups..
We have an AIP for a mortgage when the quids come through.. I have my eye on particular house.. it is not the 1 bedroom bungalow I dream of!! It has 7 bedrooms so would fit all of us in and Squeak and Twinkle would have their own rooms and Dot and Pixie would share a room.. C&C could remain in a downstairs room and Boog would have a somewhat bigger room and DS2 and Moomin would also have similar sized rooms.. We would rent this house to DD1. We are in very vague planning stages.. but I would have an extra 10 minutes on the school run but it is closer to nail shop and dirt cheap because of a very undesirable building across the road (hostel for alcoholics and drug addicts) ... we shall see what fate as planned for us, I gave up hoping for anything and roll with what life throws at me.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)7 -

Oh dear, pigpen! I trust it was Edam (so the blood wouldn't show) - do they still sell it with the rind on?
I've been thinking of you and your Nanna - hope she is more peaceful today xx
The house sounds interesting, but what is an AIP?
I should dearly love to come and sit and talk while you get your room tidied, but unfortunately tomorrow I have a 12.30 appointment with the ophthalmology consultant which will disrupt an otherwise quiet boring day. Shame!
Round, your unique qualities never fail to amaze me x5 -
My day began well with a lovely flyfriend helping me reach my 3rd sponsorship target; I have raised it again and had an email from British Heart Foundation to say I'm in the top 20% of fundraisers! My swim buddy , despite the rain, went to the lake and did 3 laps which is the distance we will have to do.
- as planned, I did a blitz on the kitchen (helped by Absolute Classic Rock on the radio) - all washing up both by hand and DW; miscellaneous paperwork/items all put in their rightful place; all surfaces wiped, most appliances wiped, some cupboards wiped, floor swept and mopped.
- made a loaf in the beadmaker.
- Mr N flew in the lounge/diner while I brushed the stairs. He then vacuumed hall.
- Bathroom cleaned including pruning a lanky geranium, all fit for visitors now.
- A bit of a report done
- Too much time spent looking for 2 nights accommodation in June in the Brixham/Torquay/Dawlish area, for on our way back from Cornwall. I'm picky about wanting to be inches from the sea and lots of places are booked already.
It has rained incessantly all day so we didn't manage 2 mins of gardening let alone 2hrs.
Did other assorted bits of admin.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.8 -

Food shop has been done. 2 ping meals for DH & I as it was just us and cba to think of anything else 😂 We have meal planned for the rest of the week 👍
Everything has been put back where it belongs in the DR. There is still work to do re organising, but it is okay & ready for work tomorrow. Floors have been swept/vac'd, downstairs toilet & sink cleaned - I even managed to get off the orange mark 😁 Paint roller & brush have been washed.
I have finished off the evening by starting my next knitting project - a small cardigan in the same wool as the blanket. I will also make the hat & bootees and they can be placed together in the organza bag 😊
I hope everyone has good night's rest. Night night7 -
Re-slugs - do those with slug problems know any one who raises chickens? Maybe they would like to come and get the slugs - understand chickens love them.8
