Tubs, can you not just cancel the order (dsr) and refuse delivery if they send it?

    Get another elsewhere.
Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.
  • The trouble is that I actually WANT the barbecue which seems quite good for the price and has had decent, if not 100% reviews elsewhere (you must expect some lessening in quality when you pay cheaper prices). The problem is the execrable customer service.

After much wrangling and being lied to several times it appears they never despatched the damned thing in the first place and are sending out another.

I would normally hesitate to use such strong wording as "lied to" in a public review (unless it was for Citylink....) were it not for the following. Consider the statements below which were given by the premium rate help(Hah!)line:-

    1. "We can't tell you if the parcel will be delivered today as the courier doesn't track its parcels." WHAT? Is this coming by a large, international, 21st Century courier company or a horse and cart?

    2. The next day. "Its definitely on the van for delivery and will be delivered today before 7pm" Really - how do you know this - I thought the courier had no tracking info..? It never arrived anyway.

    3. After 9 days "We have contacted the courier and they have never had the parcel. It seems it was never despatched"

If (as now appears to be the case), statement 3 is true then statements 1 and 2 must be, by deduction, untrue. No?

Why would any company assume that bald-faced lies of the "the cheque's in the post" variety will improve the disposition of a dissatisfied customer? It will get them off the phone for another 24hrs but the problem won't magically go away and the irate customer is going to be twice as annoyed the next day. Do the staff have any training?

*I will point out here that my better (and calmer) half phoned the call centre and was polite and calm to the staff while I jumped up and down and gnashed my teeth in the corner, so the staff cannot complain that they were dealing with some foaming-at-the-mouth Mr Angry*

Anyway, I shall post the outcome if and when the barbecue arrives.

Assuming they don't just send out a box filled with old socks, three spoons and a dead badger which, by now, wouldn't surprise me in the least.

At last - my barbecue arrived!

Ok. I've had my vent, now the praise!

    BillyOh 4 Burner Imperial Barbecue

    First Impresssions.

Its big. I mean huuuge. I've driven smaller cars. I was surprised when the courier asked if I could give him a hand shifting it up the drive but it's a very large box and weighs in at 100lbs! I thought this boded well for the box contents. I mean – if its heavy it must be expensive right?

Worrying about the Made in China sticker on the box I opened it up and was pleasantly surprised. The main barbecue, burners and hood are ready assembled as one unit. The metal parts are of a decent gauge and well finished. The hardwood parts are heavy, straight and also well finished and paper wrapped for extra protection. All the parts are well packed and secured inside the box. Hoorah!

First thing was to take everything out and check the parts list. All appears in order.

    Assembly

The fixings, instead of the usual large bag of bits, comes presented on a vacuum sealed card will all the parts were labelled. Inside is a key to the fixings to show what they are.

I had heard some minor horror stories from reviewers who claimed it takes three people and 4 hours to put one of these barbecues together. Well, either some models come with more assembly required, they have drastically changed the instructions or there are some very un-handy people out there... All the parts are well labelled and the exploded diagram (which I admit could have been a bit larger) and the description of which bit to stick where sufficed to get it together in an hour on my own.

The assembly is by means of cross head screw/bolts which locate into pre-fixed metal threaded collars in the hardwood parts. There are a limited number of holes and bolts so even with minimal instructions it isn't hard to put together.

There are a couple of places where things could have been clearer. Firstly the “Body Supports” which are the first thing to attach and appear as a tiny squiggle on the exploded plan are the four black brackets in a separate bag which fit on to the edge of the four legs and upon which the barbecue body will rest. Also – once you start to mate the barbecue with the trolley, the spacers on the long bolts which hold it to the legs go BETWEEN the metal body and the inside of the legs.
Other than that though all went without a hitch and (apart from the fact that it was weeing-down outside in the traditional British fashion) it wasn't too hard to put together by one person (although it would have been less hernia-inducing had I had a second pair of hands to help lift the body on to the legs)

Overall impressions before firing up for the first time – considering that at the Sale price I bought it for it came in at £100 or more less than the nearest rival with the same bells and whistles we required, I was impressed with the build quality and the packaging of the product. I could see many places where they could have cut corners to cut costs but didn't.

Edit - I have now tested the barbecue and all works perfectly. Lights in seconds and up to volcanic heat in a couple of minutes.

So Flaming Barbecues - One star for Ordering and Despatch. Five stars for the product.
  • Well since i posted the first time i have had various conversations with this company about the collection of the faulty shed, they have for the last 3 weeks been coming on the friday to collect the shed and guess what the first week they phoned at 5-30 to ask if its ok to collect, now this would of been alright but i had told them that i would not be at work from 1 o'clock that friday as i was going away on holiday(this was after they should of collected on the day before,i was then told it would be collected friday of last week again a no show i was home all day(infact putting up the shed i bought from my local supplier which i should of done in the first place)again i rang kybotech up and got the standard answer we will get in contact with the logistics team and come back to you, guess what no phonecall back i had to ring them again,i have been told it will be collected tomorrow now but won't be holding my breath.
  • Just had a phone call from the courier to say that collection is now monday i said no its being collected on friday 15th,he said that his company was not in the area on that day and he never agreed to collect it from me on the friday, this is also he first time they have rang to confirm a collection,it just goes to show what a pack of lies this company can tell.

    OMFG!!!

I hunted round for a really decent bbq and came across these people (flaming barbecues...can see why they call themselves that now!!).

Ordered one last Thursday (next day delivery).. Fathers day present, so assumed it would be here... email from them on Friday about 1pm saying order had been passed to warehouse for processing.

Gutted! no good to me, I needed it here before sunday so I called them... they were fab.. told me to email cancellation, which I did and they emailed me about 2 hours later to confirm my refund had been done! and refund was back in my account on tuesday.

    Fabulous customer service!!!

I told my other half the story - we went looking locally and the one we wanted was the one I originally ordered.... so we bought it again on Sunday.. delivery was Tuesday (yesterday) I contacted them through their 'live help' and was told it was out for delivery ......waited in all day...had people pick my children from nursery and school...NO DELIVERY!!

Same again today.... only I couldn't get through to them at all.. phones constantly busy and I tried to contact them through live help.. nobody available!!!

while I was trying to do this, my OH had a message saying delivery is 'proposed' for tomorrow....

really? day 3 of waiting around for these clowns? I have things to do tomorrow!!! not happy and will be attempting contact AGAIN first thing tomorrow!
  • In the dealings i have had with this firm i now know that any delivery/collection date that they give you is not worth nothing,i was told that my shed would be delivered on various days it never turned up,i was also told it would be collected on the friday for 3 weeks running and the driver never turned up,they will tell you anything just to get you off the phone, thankfully i have just had a refund for the faulty shed they sent me and am well shot of having to speak to them but what a shower they are to deal with, rant over:beer:

I recently purchased a shed from this company, my god what a mistake that was. The 97% customer statisfaction they talk about I think is for small goods that can be sent via post.

    1. They take money out of your account straight away, even though they say they dont take money till the shed is dispacthed.

    2. I booked a delivery slot, which they confirmed 3 times by email and one phone call. They then emailed me that day to say it had been moved to the following day.

    3. They didn't deliver that day either with no explantion at all, which was even more annoying because I didn't even want that day for delivery!

    4. Staff are beyond rude and so unhelpful, they never ring you back, getting any kind of contact out of them is impossible.

I am currently trying to get a refund but I have a feeling they are going to charge me for delivery as the shed has been dispatched (even though they can't confirm when the delivery is). I have a feeling they like to tell people sheds have been dispacthed for this very reason, that way they can charge for delivery if the order is cancelled.

The daft thing about it all is if they just delivered the shed I wouldn't be making a fuss. For what I paid I wouldn't expect it to be anything fantastic.

Looking at their T&Cs they have covered themselves with making you pay for delivery
If you wish to cancel your order after despatch because you were unable to accept the goods on the agreed delivery date you will be liable for a delivery charge which will be deducted from your refund

Getting the proof of true despatch date may be helpful if you can (from the courier).

  • I completely forgot about Kybosh-tech until I posted a review on Trustpilot and I saw one about this company I posted quite a while back. Thought I'd pop back to see how things were on MSE.

I have read the reviews since my last post, and to be quite honest I'm not surprised at the complaints. So many excuses and promises from them when they first started to reply on here, but once they realised the were helping to keep the post high on the first page when you googled 'Kybotech' they stopped for some reason ;). My title says it all; nothing changed! Stay well clear.
