Arrrggghhhhh! Kybotech / Garden Buildings Direct are driving me mad! I put in an order for a shed on 19th July and was given an estimated delivery of within '2-3 days'. When this time had elapsed, I called their after-sales team, who told me that the shed would arrive early in the following week and to expect an email/text message no later than the Tuesday. When no email or text arrived, I again contacted customer services. They advised that the shed was en route to the local hub and I should expect a call to arrange a deliver day by the end of the week. No call (what a surprise!). So AGAIN I call them to get an update. It's at the local hub, but they won't be able to deliver it until NEXT week. I ask them to provide a delivery date (bear in mind, this is Friday afternoon and I'm asking for a date which I am told will be early next week). No....logistics cannot provide me with a delivery date. AAARRRGGGHHHH!
Monday morning (today) I get a text at 8.45am to tell me my order will arrive today. Hurrah! (would have been nice to have a little warning, rather than on the day, but at least it's coming!)
Delivery man arrives at lunchtime with 7 thick planks of wood (the base?) and nothing else. This was sent on an overnight delivery option on Friday 1st August.
Again....I phone customer services, who now appear to be utterly confused themselves. After waiting on hold for 15mins, I am told that the rest of the shed will arrive on Weds 6th August.
My guess is that it won't.
    AVOID THESE NUMPTIES!

FWIW, I'd be phoning (or emailing) their CS and telling them to cancel the order and to come collect the planks of wood.

If a shed does arrive on Wednesday, I'd refuse it and give him the planks.

This thread is hardly full of praise for the quality of the product that does eventually arrive.

  • Oh no I've just experienced the worse customer service from this company! Ordered a 10x8 T&G shed on the 21st July. Requested delivery on the 4th August as this gave me time to sort out a solid base for it. This was enough time for them to have my order ready. Everything was going great. Got all the communication about delivery. On the 4th it arrived. Driver never gave a check list to confirm all the panels. He drove off and I started to erect the shed. I noticed a few parts missing so called the cs team. They said that the parts was not placed on the wagon. They arranged for the missing parts to arrive in 5 days. Got an email today (5th day) to inform me that the parts are out of stock! I said how can it be out of stock if it was ready for dispatch on the 4th? They could not give a reason and gave me two obtains. 1. Source parts myself or give it back for a full refund. I said that while waiting for the parts to arrive I started applying wood preservative onto the panels I had. I asked to speak to a manager and was told no one was available to speak to me. I have sent over 15 emails to different departments but never got one reply. I have been phoning them 2 or 3 times a day and speaking to different people so have to explain the issue over and over. I have sent a cancellation email and still have had no reply. So now I have half a shed covered in tarpaulin due to the weather and at a dead end! Posted a few posts of their Facebook page but it keeps getting deleted. NEVER NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!:mad:
  • I purchased a BBQ from one of the many Kybotech sub brands back in June. On the first time of using the BBQ the thermometer exploded showering shards of glass through the air. The second time I went to use the BBQ, I uncovered it to discover all of the chrome had gone rusty.

I'm no BBQ expert but you would expect a product to last longer than 2 uses, especially when these are sold in other retailers at considerably more money.

On finding the issues I tried to called Kybotech, this took 4 attempts just to get to speak to someone without being cut off. I then realised I was speaking to a Philippines call centre which never goes well.

The customer services representative informed me that my BBQ would not be replaced due to the fact that I HAD USED THE WRONG TYPE OF CHARCOAL, firstly I was unaware that different types of BBQ charcoal were available, plus I was using the prepackaged charcoal which you just light!

To say this is ridiculous is an understatement, this still does not explain the rusty chrome, maybe the wrong type of moisture caused the rust issue.

The product is of very poor quality, as properly chromed parts will last years and can be seem on car parts exposed to the elements year after year.

I would strongly suggest avoiding this company as not only do they produce cheap imported rubbish, they back it up with cheap exported call centres.
  • I am surprised there has been nothing posted since last year. I ordered an 8x6 Billy-oh shed which I just wish I had been savvy enough to return immediately - it is flimsy in the extreme - the roofing material is so thin that the felting tacks supplied have gone right through and the points threaten to puncture the heads of anyone over 5'6". The windows have already blown out and the so-called tongue and groove panelling is shrinking and warping at an alarming rate. I have emailed Kybotech but just keep getting fobbed off by their customer services who are apparently 'gutted' that I am disappointed. I am constantly asked which part is faulty so that they can send a replacement and I keep constantly telling them it isn't one part, it is the whole and that, if I tried, for instance, to remove the roof, which is total rubbish, the whole structure would probably collapse. I spent £350 on a cheap, nasty product and I am annoyed with myself for not doing my research better. As previous threads have stated NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY.
  • Three parts defective and one missing, as well as insufficient nails for a small shed. Despite many emails, assuring me of 'quality service' and two promising that the parts were on the way, nothing has turned up.

The statement by their Managing Director, Mr Charles Walton, on the Kybotech website is laughable and should thoroughly embarrass him: "His unwavering crusade to provide consumers with the ultimate degree of customer satisfaction ... "

Despite being the manufacturer of a very small 4' by 7' shed they pretended difficulty in understanding what was wrong, even though I sent to Kybotech actual photographs at the start.

Different people at the 'Product Support' team dealt with each contact from me, seemed to have no idea or record of what had been said or promised by others previously, said they would deal with it and then failed to do so.

Kybotech 's last email said (sic): "We already forwarded this to our Resolutions Team and they will be the one to get in touch with you within 24-48 working hours." - That was dated 5th July; it is the 13th July today. Have I heard from them? You guess!!!
  • broken, rotten and dangerous

I ordered a Billyoh Mad dash playhouse for my son. The item arrived way before Christmas on the 14th, 7 hrs later than promised.

I stored the item away until a few days prior to Christmas in a dry, secure garage.

On assembly it was apparent that a large amount of the panels had arrived split and broken, worst of all the floor panels were rotten and soft.

I attempted to contact customer services but there office was closed, I emailed tweeted and inboxed to no avail.

The playhouse was my 3yr old son Joels main gift for Christmas, he has special needs and we was hoping this house would give him a safe area to play and explore his sensory needs, so for it too arrive broken and rotten I had one choice, to repair it.
Now I am not a skilled craftsman or joiner, so as a loving father I took it upon myself to employ a gentlemen at the very last minute to come and fix the mess garden buildings direct had sent me.

This was expensive. It was time consuming yet needed to be done so that the house was ready for my son to see, all lit up with fairy lights Christmas morning.

On making a complaint to Garden buildings direct I was and still feel a little intimidated, I was made to feel stupid, like I'd done wrong by not following there terms and conditions, but what was I supposed to do??? Be a good Dad or send back there dangerous and rotten playhouse and have no gift to show my boy.

Too add insult to injury I spent £497 with garden buildings direct and the offered me a 5% refund for my troubles. Thats does not even cover the cost of the material purchased to fix the shoddy and potentially lethal items they sent me.

I will not be buying from them again and I am seeking legal assistance in the new year

  • Oh my goodness where do i start with this one??
Wish i'd done some more research on this company before i bought "The Shed"

I'd decided to buy a 12' x 8' BillyOh shed from Argos. You'd assume all would go ok with this as Argos are normally ok. The shed was picked because it had 6 windows in the product photo and 6 windows listed in the item specifications so one could safely assume this shed would have 6 windows. WRONG......it only has 2. Silly me.
It was delivered quickly and the delivery staff were very through and told me to call Argos if there were any issues. Because of the bad weather it was 3 weeks before i bought shed treatment paint £22 as the instructions strongly recommended so i could treat it before we put it together.
It was as i was getting to the last set of panels when i opened the packaging to find only two windows.
I finished painting and wrote the first of many emails. Firstly to Argos. They got back to me and said that the supplier Kybotech will be in touch within 48 hours. They did. They emailed and asked for a full explanation about why the shed was no good. I told them i specifically wanted and ordered a 6 window shed. Two days later i receive a phone call from them (01636 858375) to tell me that they could not send replacement window panels as there tech department said they wouldn't fit which is utterly ridiculous. How can they not have spare panels for these items? The dimensions are exactly the same whether or not you have 3 double window panels or 1 double window panel and 2 plain panels. The woman then told me to arrange collection and refund with Argos.
I emailed Argos and weirdly they ignored me so i had to call the returns/collections department. I was then told that Argos don't arrange collection but will arrange a refund when the shed is returned.
Argos called Kybotech and apparently they told them that they'll be in touch with me within the next 48 hours to arrange collection.
But having done some research and read all the posts about this company, i'm expecting to still have this damn shed this time next month.
This company is very confusing. You buy the shed from Argos who arrange with Kybotech for delivery who get the shed from the manufacturer Billyoh and who sell through various different companies including Garden Buildings Direct who also deal with Kybotech. Really confusing. Well, i can't afford to get another shed till this one is refunded, which won't be refunded till it's picked up by Kybotech. What the hell is wrong with customer service in this damn country?
I'll keep everyone updated with what happens. But i'll start taking bets now on how long i'm stuck with this b***** shed.
