On our website we state delivery will be approximately 5 days however in our terms and conditions it does say it can take up to 28 days. We do try to deliver quickly and within the 5 days but delays may occur that prevent us being able to deliver within this time. We do keep you informed and updated regularly by email the progress of your order and are given the option to cancel at any time and receive your money back if you feel the delay is unacceptable, you are also offered the option to change your order to an alternative product that we could deliver sooner. All items purchased over the web money is taken straight away and as i stated earlier you have the right to cancel and receive your money back.

This is a situation that has been recurring for months and months. I too was stung by their delivery/payment policy - TWICE!!! - and it took weeks to receive a refund, all the while they are earning interest on MY money

Total shambles this company, and I would advise anyone to avoid it with a bargepole!

I wish I'd seen this thread before I ordered a BillyOh shed at the weekend. It arrived today, within 5 days which is good, and was left at the side of the house as requested because I was out. the first problem is that it was a 6x4 rather than the 7x5 shed I'd ordered. The second, more serious, is that it is really poor quality with badly fitting and split panels. a long way from the robust quality products the Gardens Direct website promised. I am about to contact Kybotech, probably to ask for a refund rather than a replacement. But lets see how good their customer service is - I will report back what they say

You're not alone in receiving shoddy goods. I bought a shed from them in Spring 2006 and despite complaining about poor workmanship I was told there was nothing they could do about it once it had been erected. It is now splitting and warping, and the roof has bowed, just 2 years on, certainly not what I would expect from the "quality" building they claimed it to be at the time!

You do keep mentioning law breaking?

Why don't you just admit that those are your permanent prices, the sale is a ruse and be done with it? I'd respect you a lot more ;)

Isn't there something in law that states in order to offer a price reduction or "sale price" that the item must have been on sale at the full price within the last 28 days or something?

    The trading standards site says:

    "The Consumer Protection Act 1987
Part 3 of this Act makes it an offence for a trader to give any consumer a misleading indication as to the price at which any goods, services, accommodation or facilities are available.
The Act defines 'misleading' as including giving a price which is, in fact, higher than what is advertised, giving incorrect information about a price as to how it applies, hidden charges, incorrect expectations as to what will happen to the price in future and incorrect information given which affects a consumer's judgement as to whether the price comparison is valid.
Traders, therefore, should only make price comparisons which can be justified and which are accurate, valid and capable of being clearly understood by consumers."

Now surely if a company says that a sale will end and permanently extend it time after time that gives "incorrect expectations as to what will happen to the price in future" . You order before the deadline and lo and behold the price is the same after the sale deadline as theres "a rolling sale" - Charles Waltons phrase, not mine.

This is what I was referring to earlier ...

    http://www.berr.gov.uk/consumers/fact-sheets/page38133.html

Q4. What is the 28 day rule?
The 28 day rule allows a trader to claim a reduction on products he may wish to include in a sale or other promotion. It requires that the product must have been sold at a higher price for a period of 28 consecutive days within the previous 6 months in that outlet.

I wish I'd read this thread (and the various others on the internet) before becoming yet another victim of Kybotech's (Garden Buildings Direct, BillyOh, Simply Garden Furniture, etc, etc) shocking levels of service.

I ordered a greenhouse at the weekend (which payment was taken immediately) and received an email on Wednesday morning telling me that the goods "have been loaded onto the delivery vehicle", and would be delivered on Thursday. Between 7am and 7pm (yes, that'll be a 12 hour delivery slot then). So I took the day off work and waited. And waited. And waited.

Obviously there wasn't a problem with the order, because in the email that claimed that my order had "been loaded onto the delivery vehicle", it said: "If there are any problems with your order we will contact you."

And at 4pm, I phoned their delivery department - and got "this voice mail box is full". Several attempts later, I finally got to speak to someone. She was very helpful and said she would call back after contacting the driver to see what was happening. I was called back, but she said that she couldn't get hold of the driver, but they do deliveries up until 7pm and to call back in the morning if they had somehow missed the 12-hour delivery slot.

It didn't arrive. I had to take another day off work. I called back "this voice mail box is full" this morning. Half an hour later I got through to someone. Explained everything again, she said she'd phone back after seeing what the problem was. Obviously there wasn't a problem, because my greenhouse "has been loaded onto the delivery vehicle" and "If there are any problems with your order we will contact you."

    How wrong I was!

Because, you see, it turns out that the greenhouse that had "been loaded onto the delivery vehicle" didn't actually exist. Apparently, the driver went to collect the greenhouse yesterday (you know, the one that had already "been loaded onto the delivery vehicle"), but found that there were none in stock.

Still, at least they notified me of this. Oh, hang on - no they didn't.

The person behind the "this voice mail box is full" line, said that there wouldn't be any in stock until the first week of June. Even though they are still selling them through their web site with a delivery of 2-5 days. I was a tad gobsmacked at this turn of events, so I thanked them (being English is a real bum sometimes when you want to be angry!) and hung up.

A little while later I phoned Customer Services to see what could be done. After waiting in a queue for 20 minutes I got to speak to someone, explained everything again, was put on hold, and with no apology was told that there were none in stock and I was then put through to Sales for an alternative.

I re-explained everything to Sales Man - who then told me that my greenhouse (the one that had "been loaded onto the delivery vehicle") would be delivered on Monday. When I queried this, he (in a very "computer says no" tone) told me that this is what it said on his screen, and would I like the number for Customer Services. I explained that I had phoned Customer Services in the first place, who put me through to him. Sales man repeated that it would be delivered on Monday and was obviously in no mood to help me further.

I have since phoned back (another 20 minutes of my life I'll never see again) and asked for a refund. I was advised that even though they accepted payment for in a matter of seconds, the refund would take three days to complete.

The extraordinary thing was, in all this - nobody who I spoke to either apologised for any of this, or expressed any sort of surprise. They obviously deal with this all the time every day.

Amazing that their "sale" prices are more expensive than other retail outlets ;)

I was looking for a louvre vent for my greenhouse which usually sells for £29.99 at most places, but Kybotech have it in their "sale" for £39.99

  • I dont normally come on these forums, but after i ordered from kybotech....well the different retail site i thought i must register for this
so i ordered a shed after comparing price, i couldnt see the sheds anywhere so couldnt compare quality, price was the best i found around
At the same time i ordered a dvd & awaited GTA4 that id ordered a VERY long time ago
The shed was delivered 2 days after the 3 days advertised,
GTA didnt come when it was realised, infact was 1 day late
Im still awaiting for my dvd from play

everyone has different experiences with different companies, (dont get me started with ntl/virgin) its good that we have these forums to help advise us all, but it seems that some people have a personal vendetta against kybotech, which doesnt seem fair,

So,we can conclude that they are still as carp as they were 2 years ago!!!!!!

    Update from 09/05/08
Mr Walton very quickly responded to my PM and was extremely helpful and courteous in looking into what had gone wrong with my order. I received a very positive email from one of his employees first thing yesterday offering me either a full refund or delivery of my order by Tuesday. So my fingers are crossed hoping that nothing goes wrong and that it will be delivered on Tuesday.
No company possesses perfect customer service, and we are all too quick to criticize when things go wrong but in this case Mr Walton and Kybotech have acted with commitment and professionalism to put right what went wrong (IT failure that didn't save my order) in a matter of 24hours, so they get the thumbs up from me!
Judging by what Ive read in this thread and comparing it with my own experience I would say that they are not 'as crap as 2 years ago' as some people might think. On the contrary, they have proven to be decent enough to recognize that an error had been made, whilst prompt and professional in resolving it! Maybe people should give them a chance to prove that!!
    Thanks Kybotech! :T
