Gawd that's some wall Dusty no grapes. Will you have pretty little plants tumbling out of it or just see what decides to move in?

Yes, plants will (hopefully) fill some gaps in the wall, but it's the wrong time to establish them. We've always fancied a few Lewisias. I overwater everything, but they'd be safe there. (almost!) :)

Only when it pertains to reuse and recycling :) The earth build houses, Cal-Earth Institute fired my imagination for a while as well as rocket mass heaters...I need a bigger rottery acres garden to play in...
And imagine some erigeron and some campanula and maybe creeping thyme setting up shop in your wall ybe, or een some  navels... :)

Esoteric - there's one you don't hear enough. That museum is amazing taff, I love how some peoples' minds work :)

I'll definitely be happy if I can get erigeron and campanula and toadflax all setting up in my wall

There's a gap between the back of the wall and the edge of the patio so himself is gonna near fill it with rubble and I'll top it off with soil, then I can have stuff tumbling out of it too. I thought it'd be backed up tight to the patio, but Bob said "you can do more with a hole than you can with no hole". But that bit can wait, I want to get the 2 patches in front of it sorted first. Well very firstly first I need to pick steps.

Toad flax is really easy, just goes about its business & pops up everywhere, very pretty & harmless AFAIK, no idea if it poisons cats or blinds polar bears etc

If you need a bit to get you going, I can send you some, no probs.
Mine has historic roots to Largs, where it stuck to my pocket while I was staying there, so you may find it pining for a wee dram of haggis ;)

Common toadflax can be a menace here if let loose in  prime border, where it will run. It's used to fighting its corner in hedgerows. In the limited space of a wall cranny, it should be OK. though.
Then there's annual toadflax, like Mrs Patricia Marrow had growing all over her unruly Somerset nursery. It's somewhat easier to pull out and manage, if you want to. She didn't! :D
