That's him done for the day, he's just gone. He's brilliant fun, if he wasn't retired I'd recommend him to anyone.
Taff search for 'ideas for left over roof tiles' on pintrest. It was 2p told me that and she's spot on, the things some people have done are amazing.

I think you have to consider what you wear on your feet in the garden. As I had tons of gravel I raked it all into spots for seating and washing line etc. Problem - summer I'm barefoot or flipflops so the end on tiles are going to be uncomfortable. With that lovely wall (I'm envious) I'd go for flat steps, prehaps a flat stone (no slip in winter) and a brick edging. There's some horrible stuff on the net when you search. Hard edged unsoftened - supposed to look smart as opposed to charming and gentle.

YoungBlueEyes said: Funny you should mention about space under the patio Farway - he straight out asked me if I wanted a pit digging out after he'd heard the latest round from next door. He even suggested flowers to grow on it that would go a bundle on the extra nutrients

That is a very nice looking wall ybe...Very rustic and victorian, like a mini walled gardenYou don't have ot tell me about that, I've been doing that for a while, the one that got me started was the Ningbo Museum built by Wang Shu. It's a building style characterised by the use of whatever materials are to hand for rapid building after earthquakes or typhoons and the like. I saw some terracotta tiles in between some grey stones and that started the rabbit hole...and then there was crevice gardening. I was looking for ways to reuse concrete slab [which someone named urbanite] and it's all history now...I just can't stan waste so I try to recycle things as much as possible, hence the slabs which have been moved five times..Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi3

At least now you know it's because you're missing the requisite slow-release nutrients...3 -

At least now you know it's because you're missing the requisite slow-release nutrients...I have a near neighbour, but he's not quite dead yet, so there's nobody under my grapes. They're next to two soakaways, so should do well in the longer term.By the way, this is my random stone wall I've been building in odd moments. Regrettably, odd moments are almost as rare as dead sheep here. I've only had one of those in 15 years, whereas stone is almost limitless. Long way to go yet!Your wall is a 'proper job' and it looks good, Bluey.I wish Mrs Dusty had let me use mortar, but maybe she remembers the last one I built!

If they would only settle on an answer - either split or don't - I'd know how big a pit I'd need. Neither of them are afraid of their pudding *ahem*
A sheep wasn't mentioned FB but a couple of badgers were. Roses and grapes and sunflowers and sweet peas were mentioned, or "anything that's greedy"
Good point about considering what you wear on your feet 2p, I hadn't considered that. I'm barefoot the majority of the year so maybe just bricks wouldn't be right. I like the idea of slabs edged with bricks... We've the original concrete slabs in a pile that we lifted from up near the house, and a load of the patio slabs left so I'll see what Bob makes of them. Might be awkward breadths for the gap that's left. The patio slabs might look good, tie the whole thing together. He judges a lot of these things by eye so it could work out
I've not heard of the Ningbo museum, I'll have to look that up taff.
Gawd that's some wall Dusty no grapes. Will you have pretty little plants tumbling out of it or just see what decides to move in?I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4
