Fayolle, you don't do things by halves, do you?! Today is definitely a read-a-book day for you xx
Well done with the air-fried egg, pigpen. The rest of your street would be shocked to know what a narrow escape they had. It's a pity you couldn't just take out the neighbours-from-hell. When you say you're on your own, once your OH and the Fab Four are off to work/school, I assume that you mean that you are the only person awake in the house....
Thanks for all the sleep vibes - I did sleep quite well and I don't ache nearly as much this morning as I did yesterday. However, I still need to plant up a few pots, and I'm having my C jab later this morning, so it may not last. I can but hope.
Jobs for today:
- clean and tidy kitchen
- PUPA in LR
- FUPA clean washing
- shower and dress (yes, I know it's already after 10.00, but I've been up since 6.15)
- make my bed
- jab
- enjoy a peaceful lunch: DH is meeting some of his friends in town for soup and a sandwich at the hospice shop café
- 10 min gardening
- make marmalade (oranges-outovva-tin)
- make birthday cards for my two littlest godchildren
- start investigating house insurance renewal
- various bits of financial and other admin need to be done before the end of the month
That'll do for today. Have a good one, Flyfriends xxx6 -
Good morning 😊
Fayolle take it easy. Don't rush back to work before you are ready.
Pigpen I have tried eggs in the AF and was very nervous at first. Not necessarily quicker to cook, but you don't have to boil the water first.
I have done WM x2. I need to peg out the 2nd load - bright sunshine here for a change!
I have also cleaned the upstairs toilet & sink, and the downstairs toilet. I haven't done the sink yet, as the plumber has been & needs to come back later with a part that he is picking up from his dad near Narc0-land (I think). The sink has a big orange stain in it and I'm not sure on the best way to clean it 🤔 Oh, and I am without heating (not a problem) and hot water (ah!) until he comes back. I needed to make the kitchen sparkle so the kettle will have to step up!
I have just had a cuppa, and warmed the oven up to assist cleaning (shock!!!).
I think I need a little list......
Hang out washing
Clean oven
Wash up pots
Empty litter trays
Wipe down surfaces
Wipe down hob
Food shop
Clear out fridge
Descale kettle
That'll do for starters
Have a good day all!8 -
Any tips on how to clean this? It is like a rust stain

Morning all.
Glad to hear Mr P got the jobhope he enjoys his first day!
A busy one here today. I have taken LO out for a run this morning in the buggy, unfortunately my IT band problems are still present but we will continue to ignore them until after my 5 and 10k races this coming weekend. I can run the 5k fairly comfortably and up to 5 miles without too much pain so if necessary will limp the last mile and a bit of the 10k. Not very sensible but they're my first races back post baby and I'm damned if I'm missing them (don't do what I do, do what I say kids).
This morning I've also made cookie dough for the freezer, now enjoying a coffee and a sit down before I go and tackle the mess in the kitchen. Then we're off to a sensory play session. Last time we went LO was far more interested in showing off how fast he could crawl to the other side of the hall but is now a bit more focused on what's in front on him and tries to walk more than he crawls so hopefully he'll enjoy it. Then I'm out for dinner with friends this evening.
A bit of a random question (or 'rogue' question, as my much younger colleagues seem to call anything unusual now) - how do you clean a bathroom with a bath tubours is now finished but I've only ever really lived in houses with cubicle showers (at least in my adult life) so I'm a bit perplexed as to what I should be doing with the tub and the wall tiles.
Small list for today which I've already started on:
1) Empty and refill DW
2) Wipe kitchen counters
3) Clean small appliances on sides
4) 2 x washing loads

rust stains.. try bleach... then toothpaste... then vinegar and bicarb.. then harpic.. then maybe sand and reglaze the sink... then say fluff it and beg a replacement off the local marketplace/fb group.. and replace the taps so it doesn't happen again.. My sink my resemble a munitions factory!
OH seems to be having a good first day though he wants to buy an otter water feature and a goose water feature.. he doesn't even know how often he gets paid and is spending it already!!
I made a hat, 3 cups of tea, fed Thomas 27 dreamies 32 slices of cooked meat, refilled his water and removed him from the toilet so I could use it..2x WM.. I am going to hang that out now.I need picture hooks and a hammer.. P&S have been for coffee and left with the bag of books for P's sister. I've been to Mr C00p and bought bananas and crisps. Treated myself to a sandwich too. Bread is now an occasional treat. Nom nom.

GI - my first go to would be to pour harpic on it and leave overnight. Works on most things. Cor blimey! Did just give a flying tip? 😳
kissmenow - I use the same cleaner on my bath and tiles as I do on the hand basin. But I guess it depends on what they're made of. Most products have 'do not use on....' for guidance.

Hello all, I was going to go back out to the polytunnel, but the heavens have just opened, so I'm posting instead.
Only another 14 lambs to go, according to the scans. This includes a set of triplets and several twins.
Hope Mr pigpen is enjoying his first day.
@Goodintentions. My aunt used to tell the story of a Belfast sink she had when living in Canada. Similar to you she had a rust strain. Tried everything, nothing shifted it. Then one day one of her children knocked a bottle of coca cola over. Where it had run, the sink was clean! She never drank coke again. May be worth a try.
DW has been run. Pigs head cooking for brawn. Stairs hoovered. Seeds planted, transplanted, weeds pulled.
Off to go and look at sheep's backsides. Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.7 -
Thanks for the tips ladies. It is not worth doing anything until the plumber has come back. It is not from the taps, but from the boiler which is above the sink. That stain has only appeared in the last week!
Only thing left on my list from earlier is wipe down the kitchen surfaces & hob, and empty the litter trays. I then need to sort the garden out & set up stuff for the children tomorrow as it looks like the weather may be okay 🤞 They have not had much opportunity to play out there so far this year! I think we may sow some sunflowers & play with the mud kitchen 😁9
