No, no it's bad luck to leave them up after twelfth night. I have this argument with my dad every year.
See here for more info
I take mine down on New year's day- I've had enough by then, mind you we didn't put them up until the 21st Dec, must have a low tolerance of decorations.
I take the tree down, hoover all the needles, open the windows and treat myself to a bunch of spring flowers (from the other side of the world no doubt). A clean, fresh start to the new year0 -

See here for more infoI also get a yearly argument about when the tree should go up (12 days before according to my sil and sil) and as I point out every year I've only ever heard it from them.:p
Mine comes down a combination of when it gets on my nerves, when the weekends fall so Mr Spendless can help pack stuff away and sometimes when the kids are back at school and out of the way, so I can sort things out in peace.;)0 -
my wreaths are already down. Cards kept getting knocked over by the cat so they were bundled up on Boxing day to go through later. Only our outside lights are left. We didnt have an Xmas tree this year cos of new kitten who would demolish it.
Theres the dishes of choccies & nuts still around and they will get binned or saved on New Years day.

OH is a stickler for the 12th night thing...........Jan 5th.....not before or after he always says else its bad luck.
Well it was bad luck last year, even on 5th...............stupid me took the tree down, lay it on the floor then promptly tripped over it breaking my wrist in the process...........nasty break it was too..........damaged the tendons as well. Since then I steer clear of it. OH gets it out of its box and puts it away again.
Should have know last year.............tree lights packed up boxing day and that made be right fed up.............wanted to take the tree down then but for OH protesting.
He'll stick to Jan 5th again this year but I still ain't going near the tree:xmastree:Mary

I'm with Thriftlady. Never up before 21st/22nd and down on NYD or the 2nd. Have had enough by then .... and this year, any "Christmas spirit" will definitely have evaporated by NYD!!!! :rotfl:Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0

Cards have already come down, kept falling over and dangerous as over an open fire.
The tree.......well, I would like to see it back in the loft today but DD has asked if it can stay a bit longer, so Sunday its coming down.
Good hover and clean up all round the house, then out for a bike ride on my new bike0 -
