Oh how nice to see I am not alone in my thrifty ways. I never have my water heater on and as an experiment I didnt put on my electric fire for a year (omg cold !!!!!!!!!!dont have central heating either) and wrapped up in a blanket at night. It was worth it though when I got a good rebate from electricity company.0

remembered some more, if you use 500g margarine tubs wash them out and freeze soups and stews etc, also in the name of been a better recycler use hankies instead of tissues0

As a student, I learned to cut my own hair. Thing is, I only know how to do one style so I've had it the same way for years. It's getting boring now. Lol!Please continue to hold the line. Your call is very important to us and will be answered by next available robot...0

Hi!
Since October I have tried hard to save money. I am lucky that I have no credit card debts but on the other hand I could never save any money either and a week or two weeks before payday I had no money left but had no idea what I had spent the money on.
This is what I did:
Everytime I went food shopping I deducted the amount from the amount
that I budgeted every month for food. This helped me to stay in control of my money.
On Friday evenings I withdrew the money I was entitled to spend until the following Friday (if I had money left I felt great and put them on the side to be used for a treat, but if I had spent more I had less to spend the following Friday). Now I no longer have no money left before pay day and I feel that I still do the same things as before.
I saved £40 a month by not buying my daily cappucino, instead I buy a packet of 10 instant coffee filters for less than 2 pounds (if you are like me who don't like instant coffee this is a great alternative.)
When I leave work to go out for my lunchbreak I lock my handbag with all my cards in my office drawer - now I cannot spend anything!
I keep credit cards at home so I cannot be tempted to use them. If possible I try to plan when I use the card so I use them after the cut off date for next month's bill. In my monthly budget I put aside £50 a month to pay for credit card bills, if I have no bills that month this money is either saved or I buy something for it which I would normally use my credit card for. This works for me as an extra incentive not use my cards.
For the first for a long time I have now started to save and I feel in control of my spending. I hope these ideas will help someone to save money. If you have any other ideas on how to save money it would be great to hear yours since this year I hope to save even more money. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j0
