It has been a strange week at work, very quiet and boring, and not great as my pay is mostly commission based. I hope it picks up next 2 weeks.
I spent a bit of my win on myself, but I did buy a coat for DS and had a meal out with DH (I know I said I would spend it all on me, but didn't lol). I ended up sending an OP of £582, which makes total OP for this month £2199.71. Current mortgage balance -£195,400Original mortgage 2016 -£310,500 Current balance Jul 25 -£181,135
Total OP so far £739/18,275.80
Total OP 2025 £5162.23

Great OP! It’s hard to spend money on yourself if you aren’t used to doing itMortgage at largest £280050 with MF date 2038 - current in the £160s whoop whoop0

Payday came and went. Expensive month with DH 50th and DS braces, so only £540 OP made so far, will add more once I get some interest.
We had the in laws here this week and it was lovely seeing them but I'm looking forward to a quiet weekend. I have been for a 5k run and took the dog for a 40min walk, now time to just chill for the rest of the day

Sensiblesaver said:I'm definitely not sharing my win, call me selfish, don't care lol. To be honest, it is sharing as part of it is going to the mortgage.
We had a chat and both DS and DH agreed to make a bit more of an effort to keep the house tidier. I work the longer hours and get home last and is not fair that I am the one doing most of the housework. Let's see how it goes.
Hope they manage to step up to the plate on being fair on the housework - if you are working longer hours they should be doing the lions share & at least not trashing your hard work
- also a bad example for DS as well whose future partner will not like the fact he is disrespectful in this regardDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I have loved catching up with your diary, we owe a similar amount and I would love to overpay mine early too (currently due to run for another 19 years which would take me to 70!) I also overpay a regular £500 per month.
You achieve so much with your exercising and meal prepping considering you have a demanding highly paid job, very inspirational1 -
Thank you for your comments. And yes @LadyWithAPlan they need to step up their plate. DS does a lot of things in the house but we have to ask and he is messy like his father. DH is lazy, but the best thing we did was hire a cleaner and he pays towards it, it really improved our relationship and we stopped arguing so much about housework.
Thank you @Startingover50 and if you manage £500 OP you will finish early too, its a great amount. When I calculate if I OP £550 It says I would be finished in 10 years. I find consistency is the key, you get used to not having that £500.
I meal prep my food for the week as I'm out of the house for 12 hours due to commuting to work, so I don't cook until Thursday as I finish work at 2pm on Thursdays, then I cook for Thursday and Friday. I find this one day of the week I finish early really helps.
I am struggling with my morning routine though. I usually get up at 5am and exercise, meditate, journal, but lately I have not been able to. I keep waking up at 2-3am and by the time I fall asleep again I'm too tired to get up at 5. I read it's a symptom of perimenopause, I am also getting some hot flashes, I started taking lots of supplements and it got better.

The cleaner sounds like the perfect solution but having things left lying around in between her sessions must be annoying.
Maybe a daily list for DS that includes 'remove all your mess/stuff from the main living areas' before you go to bed/leave the house..
Sounds like you v organised on the food prep and life. Wonder woman alert
I am on the right HRT now (I wasnt absorbing enough of the ostroegen thru my skin) and it has made a big difference to my sleep, and no more hot flushes.
It might be worth getting a blood test from the doctor then seeing a HRT specialist. Some people manage via supplements route but it did not work well enough for me. I read a couple books on it which educated me as well.
