    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

  • Thank you all for the comments. I love the Argos analogy it made me laugh :0 Nothing wrong with browsing on Rightmove as long as I don't end up with a huge mortgage lol

This week has been a bit of a struggle to get up earlier and exercise. I have been waking up in the middle of the night and struggling to get up early as I'm too tired. I think I am entering perimenopause as I am also getting hot flashes, it's awful lol

I forgot to update in here, but I made a few more OPs last month. Total OP for September was £1748.34. End of month balance was -£198,435.

I got paid on Friday and sent £450 OP to the mortgage, so current balance now is -£197,985. I will probably send a bit more after the usual payment goes through and interest gets added, but it won't be as much as this months salary is lower due to holiday in August. I have also paid £700 for a course I booked and DS is getting braces at the end of the month so will need to pay part of it.
    Original mortgage 2016 -£310,500 Current balance Jul 25 -£181,135
    Total OP so far £739/18,275.80
    Total OP 2025 £5162.23

Having a day off today so was playing with the mortgage op calculator and ended up sending some more to the mortgage. Just took an extra 1.1k from my cash savings, so total OP this month was £1617.71

Current mortgage balance now -£195,982, going down nicely :)

I will send some money to the same charity, keep a little and the rest will go to the mortgage :)
And share none of it with DH and DS 😀😀😀

  • I'm definitely not sharing my win, call me selfish, don't care lol. To be honest, it is sharing as part of it is going to the mortgage.

We had a chat and both DS and DH agreed to make a bit more of an effort to keep the house tidier. I work the longer hours and get home last and is not fair that I am the one doing most of the housework. Let's see how it goes.
