This week has been very quiet at work, so I am going late today, don't need t go in until 11am. I will use the time and exercise as I have not managed my morning routine this week and only went for a run on Tuesday. A colleague has been let go and we also had a work meeting that left the team feeling a bit frustrated so that has been on my mind.

I received £30 from one of my investments yesterday and sent to the mortgage. I love these little OPs over the month. Today I got the message from my cleaner to say she is not coming tomorrow, so I also sent the money I would've paid her plus some more interest to the mortgage, another £60 OP. Mortgage balance now -£190,160
    Original mortgage 2016 -£310,500 Current balance Jul 25 -£181,135
    Total OP so far £739/18,275.80
    Total OP 2025 £5162.23

This month has flown by so quickly. Work has been a bit quiet so I have been going in late and getting home earlier for a change, at least I can take the time to rest and recover. Payday came and I sent £500 OP to the mortgage. The plan was to send more but washing machine broke, we need to replace a fence panel and we might be getting a new mattress, in other words, life is getting in the way lol. At least I sent some OP already and mortgage is now into the 180s :). Current balance -£189,645
    Original mortgage 2016 -£310,500 Current balance Jul 25 -£181,135
    Total OP so far £739/18,275.80

Today I sat down and updated my budget on ynab. I ended up sending another £315 OP.  Mortgage balance now -£189,345. The normal payment will go through on Monday and after I see the balance and receive the interest from my ISA I will send a bit more to round down the balance. I completed dry January and will have a nice glass of wine tonight with a chicken, leek and mushroom pie for dinner.

January was a great month healthwise, no drinking, sticking to my morning routine, lost 2.5kg, tested my cholesterol and it has gone down, I'm feeling great :) Work was quiet but I managed to do reasonably well and my march salary will be higher than this month. I have gone to the gym today and also had a long walk, now off to do some yoga as I was getting some back ache this week and yoga really helps :)

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thank you @LWAP , running in this weather keeps me sane, so cold, grey and miserable :(

Left work early as it was really quiet. At least I get to spend time at home, just can't wait for the weather to get a bit nicer

Payday came and went and after doing my budget I sent an OP £573.25. Smaller OP this month as we are going skiing and I need to pay for the spends there. I'm looking forward to a week off work. Weather has been getting better and it's lovely when its sunny but still very cold in the mornings and I managed to catch a cold so not exercising much.

Just got an e-mail from premium bonds saying I won £100 :). Once I receive it it will go to the mortgage. Considering I only have £1250, that's not bad return.

That’s a very good return. Can’t remember the last time I won anything but I did notice a million pound winner with a very small investment recently so we can live in hope!

I know. I am quite sceptical of premium bonds, but you never know. Better than playing the lottery and I have won 4 prizes so far £500, £25, £25, £100 in 18 months, so not bad at all :)
