Thank you for the advise, I'm just starting to get symptoms and will book an appointment to see a doctor as I am not sure I can take HRT but will investigate.
You are right about the mess, it does annoys me, sometimes I just ignore it to avoid constant battles.
I went to parents evening last Thursday. It is GCSE year for ds and all the teachers praised him about how well he behaves at school and how engaged he is in class. But they all said he has potential to do better and I agree. He is on target to get 7/8, but he does very little work at home, so he should be getting 9 if he starts revising more. We had a long chat about it and created a schedule. I also bought lots of revision guides.
Friday I had a black tie event with with work and it was great fun and I got home at 2am. It was a costly though, after booking hair/nails and Uber home it adds to almost £200. Yesterday was a day in the sofa kind of day, but today has been more productive, I went for 6k run, walked the dog, food shopping and studied with DS. I sat and completed a course while he was studying and then I tested him after.

I hope you can take HRT it makes a real difference. When they made me come off it in my mid 60s the arthritis started & some other things became much more difficult (I'll leave that to your imagination). My younger sister was still using patches into her 70s.

Payday came and I sent £623 OP to the mortgage. I thought I would be able to overpay more but my aunt wants to go skiing with us next year, so I had to keep some money aside for the holiday. I'm quite bad at saying no to holidays, especially as we usually go just the 3 of us and it will be a lot more fun to go skiing with a bigger group.
My total OP for 2024 comes to £16,681 so far. I will send a few bits more once some interest gets paid. Current mortgage balance -£193,330. I will update signature once normal payment goes out and the interest gets added.
I had a busy month at work and my next pay should be better than this month, so it will be a strong start to 2025. I will wait till the end of the month and total up all my investments and mortgage OP and check what percentage of my pay I have managed to save.
We got our Christmas tree this morning and I did my workout in the garden and then spend a lot of time tidying up all the leaves, now just chilling on the sofa.Original mortgage 2016 -£310,500 Current balance Jul 25 -£181,135

Thank you @Idreamofplants, that was a great year. Mortgage payment gone through and I sent another £80.43 to round down to nearest 100, so total OP made this year £16762.12. Current balance -£192,400
Today is our work Christmas party and the weather outside is horrendous, I wish I could stay at home, but I have to go. There was some drama yesterday with the toxic person and another colleague and I am not in the mood to hang out with them at all, but I will stay for dinner and leave early.

It has been a busy month, so taking break from everything has been really nice. Christmas was nice and relaxing, just the 3 of us but it was nice. DH cooked a lovely Christmas dinner and we watched some films together. Weather has not been great and I find the darkness a bit depressing, but I am now back to exercising, running, weights, yoga and meditation to keep me sane lol.
I have sat and worked out my figures for the year and I didn't do too bad. Total invested (pension + Isa= £38,608) or 35% of my net pay. Total Mortgage OP= £16,681. So investments + mortgage OP= £55287 or 50% of my net pay.
I still need to work out my expenses averages for the year from ynab and compare with previous years. I don't spent a lot on frivolous stuff, my only big spend is on holidays (14k this year!). I got paid on Friday but have not worked out my budget yet, so money still sitting in the account untouched, which is quite nice actually as usually I'm too quick to move money around.
I have now £107,664 in available funds (S&S ISA, cash, shares). Mortgage is -£192,355, so I need £84,691 to become mortgage neutral.

Happy new Year everyone. We had a nice time, we had dinner at home and then went to our favourite pub for a couple of drinks, played some cards and came back home to watch the fireworks at home as dog was left behind and I didn't want her alone during the fireworks. I talked to some high school friends and we are hoping to reunite for next NYE in Colorado
. It would be great!
I have sat down and worked my budget, left 1k separate for skiing holiday and made an OP of £1074. So mortgage balance now is -£191,280.00. The normal payment will go through tomorrow and I will round down the payment. I can't believe it's almost breaking into the next bracket 180s, it seemed not long ago I was desperate to break the 200s. It's definitely going in the right direction. I will workout my goals a bit later, trying to get the courage to go for my first run of the year

Have been on a course all day Friday and Saturday, I am knackered today, currently sitting on the sofa trying to get the courage to take the dog out for little walk in the rain.
Normal mortgage payment went through and after interest was added I sent a further £106.77 OP. Total balance now -£190,340Original mortgage 2016 -£310,500 Current balance Jul 25 -£181,135

Some interest got paid so I rounded up and sent another £90 OP. Mortgage balance now -£190,250. I'm very tempted to send some more to bring into the 180s but need to see how the month is going as January can be a bit quiet at work, so better hold on to my holiday cash.Original mortgage 2016 -£310,500 Current balance Jul 25 -£181,135
