Weight loss and healthy eating for a debt free life

I have had a busy run with the house stuff so high steps but not 'exercise' as such but along the way my bedroom is clearer and I have full access to use the floor which will help. I also cleared access to the dining room based Bowflex trainer, although I don't think I am fit enough to use it properly yet. Small steps.
Eating, mixed bag really. Far too many nuts which are great nutrition but a lot of calories.
I am definitely more flexible and can stand on one leg/sit on the floor and stand up again without assistance which is a huge improvement. Can't quite sit cross legged yet.My mortgage free diary: +++ Divide by Cucumber Error. Please reinstall universe and reboot+++

My new ‘regime’ seems to be progressing okay. I’ve lost c. 1.5lbs over the last 10 days or so and my posture is improving.
Managed to get out for a short walk most days.
Doing the GG things.
Stopped doing the free weights every day as my shoulders started to whinge a bit. Will aim for every other day next week.
Took a yoga mat and meditation cushion upstairs to my bedroom so I can do stretches late evenings. Managed to get three sessions in 😊
I shall continue … 😉

Morning all, I've been keeping my paper diary going (I use two pages, on one side I list supplements I've taken and how I'm feeling so healthy, and the other side is my diet) i have noticed clear patterns. Eating windows work well for me, so if I finish my window at a reasonable time like 7pm I sleep better. I also have more energy which allows me to move more and do more. I also can't eat quite as much bad stuff although on a couple of days I've given it a good go. 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Eating is varied there is always fruit and veg and salad every day but there is usually something naughty in there too because I just can't seem to help myself.
I've been to the gym around work so doing okay with that too. I will weigh in on Tuesday but I'm not convinced I've lost anything 🙈. Trousers still tight. Still feeling bloated. We'll see...
Well done to everyone for keeping going, Jan and Feb are the hardest months for me personally with mental health and diet because I just want to eat and sleep.Emergency Fund goal - £1000/2000

@redofromstart I consider any movement exercise 🤣 it's better than just sitting, you're still burning calories. Improving flexibility is also good...I've noticed I'm slightly more flexible since I've been doing leg stretches where I had my leg pain and could barely walk never mind walk 1.5 miles and jog both of which I've done this week. Smallest things can make the biggest differences.redofromstart said:I have had a busy run with the house stuff so high steps but not 'exercise' as such but along the way my bedroom is clearer and I have full access to use the floor which will help. Afternoon all, how's everyone doing? I've been keeping a food diary for the most part, it's hard to keep to habits when you go back to work 🙈. I think I will keep a smaller notebook in my bag so I'm able to fill it out on the go.
The diary is working in several ways, there is no hiding the naughty treats here and there. 😬 There is transparency in what's making me feel good and what makes me feel guilty and bad. So I am making better choices. I'll keep It up until I feel I'm eating better and worked out all the triggers for headache and tummy pains....
I forgot to weigh in 🤦🏻♀️ so I will try and remember tomorrow morning now. I like to do it the same time of day so it's easier to track changes. My weight can go up or down by 3/4lb in a day with water weight etc.
I've been good and been to the gym regularly. I'm aiming for three times a week at least and I've managed 4-5 times in the last week. Working my way up to 5km but not anywhere near it yet. I got to 3km today and this is just walking which works okay for me (I block out all those runners around me on other treadmills and I don't feel guilty anymore or lazier for just walking I don't even need to keep reminding myself of my bad knee/ foot to make myself feel better about it 🤣).
I've not touched a bag of crisps for three days and I don't miss it! I've had a small bit of banana bread instead if I've felt the need for something sweet.
Hope everyone is okay 😁Emergency Fund goal - £1000/2000

You're doing really well, @debtfreewannabe321
I think feeling better and keeping to one's personal commitments are as important, if not more so, than the number on the scales.
I can't remember when I last posted here, but I am more or less back to where I was before Christmas in terms of weight (lost a lb, lb and a half maybe?). But the more significant thing for me is that I am sticking to more positive habits / new routines quite well:
- I'm getting out for a short walk most lunchtimes on work days
- Chair squats are happening at least 3 times per week.
- I'm doing stretching during the week in the evenings - I have almost no pain in my hip now.
- I'm doing / stacking Glucose Goddess hacks and my cravings for crisps are definitely easing - there were a whole load of spare packets of crisps with February expiry dates left on the side in the canteen yesterday and they didn't even appeal to me ....
- I've done 2 classes of MumDance. Can't go full tilt at it as I am too unfit but that is also helping with flexibility and getting me moving
I've had to ease off from the free weights a bit as my shoulders are a bit graunchy / complaining. I will try going back down in weight of dumb-bell for a bit and see if that helps.
The most significant thing for me - I did 20K steps on Monday, between working with a contractor in my garden and then MumDance in the evening, and although I was pretty tired on Tuesday and today I haven't been crippled. This feels like HUGE progress to me compared to a couple of years ago! I am delighted. 😊🥳
The forecast for the weekend is pretty naff for my area but I have already ear-marked a chore that needs doing (excavating and wiping off the mould that is just starting to appear on the bottom of the conservatory windows) that will involve quite a bit of lifting, shifting and steps
Previously something like this would only have appeared to be a chore and not an opportunity ...

I've been trying to reframe chores as an opportunity to move and exercise as well @KajiKita I have set timers today as I was cleaning each room...trying to beat them. Only one beat me (I had to reset that three times the room needed that much 😱🤣)!Emergency Fund goal - £1000/2000

So much of this is about the psychology of it! I’m firmly focusing on feeling better rather than weight loss, on a range of small changes and activities rather than just tracking calories so I can always persist with at least one thing, gaming the whole process with a tracker chart and constant review of feedback loops (this works, that doesn’t, etc.).debtfreewannabe321 said:I've been trying to reframe chores as an opportunity to move and exercise as well @KajiKita I have set timers today as I was cleaning each room...trying to beat them. Hey everyone, I'd like to join in. I've done diets before, lost weight and then put it all back on again when I start eating 'normally'.
In June I moved to a less stressful job and since then I've had some headspace to start trying to make sensible choices. So far I've lost almost 10kg by cutting down on snacks and treats, smaller portions, eating more veg and trying to move more. I would like to lose another 10kg but trying to stay motivated is hard! Especially as I like chocolate, crisps and sweets!3
