    Hiya

HAve never been this organised before - and am slightly worried that I will 'lose' what I have bought  but so far have all my wrapping paper, gift tags and Christmas cards for next year - all half price in the Next sale!

This will be the most financially astute year yet I hope :D

Really hope you haven't minded me passing it on to others on MSE (didn't think you would) and hope you have a fab 2008!

Oh, think i'll try changing the font to red! Not done that yet

No problems at all about passing it on. It's given me a real boost to be honest knowing it will be used by even more folks helping them most importantly be organised which in turn in theory should save all who use it money as you won't be buying things you don't need as you will be able to see at a glance what you have bought who .

It's a little bit of giving back to this site when I've had help from many, so feel free (would be good to have it circulated a few times a year for any newbies who might want it later on) to pass it on and everyone else too.

As for changing the font colour to red or any other colour when you have made use of the gift for those of you who do not know how to do this all you need to do is:-

Click on the row number at the left hand side and a thick black box will appear round the whole row.

Now at the top right hand side of the page on the tool bar you will see "A capital letter A", most likely with a black underscore, the colour black is the font of the row / cell you are in.

To change the row colour, click on the letter A and a drop down box will show you the colours available to you, chose your colour (I like red as it stands out) and click on your chosen colour. The black underscore will change to this colour. This will then change your row colour and to exit all you need to do is click on another cell.

I'm pretty sure it's the same in Microsoft Works if you are using that.

To do it with multiple rows, all you need to do is click on the row number on the left where you want to start, but keep your left mouse button down and drag to highlight the rows you want to change and then click on the letter A again and chose your colour.

If you want to do multiple rows / cells in different locations click on the first row but hold down your control button located 3 and 4 buttons to the left and right of your space bar and then highlight the additional cells / rows you want to change. My computer puts a thick black line round the first row then the subsequent rows the cells are turning to a turquoise blue colour before the font is changed and back to normal once you click out of your changed cells.

To rename a page, click on the tab at the bottom of the page and chose "rename" and just type in what you want the page to be named as be it a persons name or event.

To insert a new worksheet go to "Insert" at the top of the page and then "Worksheet" and if you want to move the worksheet to a new position you click on it and drag it to where you want.

If you want to protect the worksheet so it can't be opened by nosey beggars - woops I mean inquisitive folks and want to password it off go to "Tools" at the top of the page again, then "Protection" and "Protect Workbook" and enter a password of your choice which you will be prompted for every time you open it.

You could even do say red for Christmas and Green for birthdays or Pink for females, blue for guys. The possibilities are endless for tweaking it yourself.

Hops this helps and any questions please feel free to ask.

Oh and a happy debt free New Year to everyone.

A good tip is, if you have your new calendar, write on Nov Or Dec page (whenever you will start thinking about Xmas) what paper cards etc you have bought AND where it is !

Be careful with the gift-tags from Tesco. I went to get them last year when they were reduced and noticed they had 2006 printed on the back of them. I never noticed if it was the same this year though but might be worth checking just incase some of your receivers are funny about that kind of thing.
