I'm gonna switch the recent NatWest account as I got their bonus last month...
Just set up two £1 yearly Direct Debits with smalldirectdebit, so once I have a debit date from those, I guess I can then start the switch...
I guess I just need to make sure the switch date is set for AFTER the two direct debits have been taken from my NatWest account...0 -

The way it's worded suggests you don't need to set up the direct debits till after you've switched. As long as its within 60 days of starting the switch.

- Within 60 days of telling us to switch your account, you’ll need to complete the full switch using the Current Account Switch Service, set up 2 active Direct debits (this cannot include Direct Debits set up to fund a savings account you have with Santander, Cahoot or Cater Allen), and pay in £1,500.

Thinking of going for this one.For those serial switchers, does anyone have a full record of Santander's past switcher deals please? I haven't done any for years, but did quite a few in the past but can't remember when or if one was Santander.0

To further confirm this, from the switching T's ad Cs:These terms and conditions govern our ‘switcher offer’ of a £185 payment for eligible switches. The switcher offer starts on 18 March 2024 and lasts until we withdraw it (see general term 4 below).
To qualify for the switcher offer you must meet the following eligibility criteria:
Instruct us to start the switch on or after 18 March 2024 and before the switcher offer is withdrawn (see general term 4). Complete a full switch to a new or existing Everyday, Santander Edge, Edge Up or Private (v2) current account (your ‘Santander account’) using the Current Account Switch Service (CASS). Within 60 days of you telling us to start the switch, you’ll need to do these things:
- Complete the full switch, which includes closure of your external account.
- Pay at least £1,500 into your Santander account. This can be either by one or more deposits.
- Have at least two active Direct Debits in place on your Santander account. These Direct Debits must be active at the point we assess your eligibility. (This doesn’t include any Direct Debits set up to fund a savings account you have with Santander, cahoot or Cater Allen.)
Continue to hold your Santander account on the date we make the switcher offer payment

Not available if you have previously received an incentive payment to switch to a Santander current account.

I'm tempted to give it a go. I got a switch bonus from them a few years ago but the account I got it with has been closed for a couple of years (switched out). I currently have an Edge account but didn't get a bonus with that. I might open an Everyday Current Account via Top Cashback and switch into that. That way I can avoid having to visit a branch and at least get £25 in cashback.3 -

Thanks, I think I edited my post as you were replying. I did some switches in the past but can't remember if any were with Santander, but knowing the dates could help me make a more educated guess.

Santander need to learn they can’t be too sniffy with disqualifying previous switchers. I switched over 5 years ago to them, and would consider switching back to them and staying with their Edge account. But won’t if they won’t pay me the bonus. They need to update their world view: switching every few years is the new norm0
