I have tried to make my own but they were a disaster. I bought Sainsburys ones last week and found them quite thin and crunchy (bit hard too). Are there any nice bases out there, preferably a bit lighter and fluffier (if you know what I mean. Or alternatively pre-made dough I could just roll out?

I use the tesco pizza base mix, you just add water, knead it then roll it out. Tastes lovely and is about 54p and provides enough for 2 pizzas.

this is the one I use be careful though because it is very filling!

    makes 4 bigish pizza bases
the sauce easily makes enough for 10 pizzas (well for us anyway) I freeze the sauce in batches and also freeze spare pizza bases. still very quick & easy but alot tastier than supermarket version

I've just read the details on the bbc one and that doesnt suggest cooking the base first, is this not neccessary then?

Have you got a bread machine? I'm making 2 pizza bases right now using the dough setting.

Sorry just seen the BBC recipe which is very similar to what I do. I don't bake the base first and they take just 15 mins in a hot oven.

Breadmaker has just finished it's dough cycle. I opened the lid to find much less dough than I expected. It took only a few seconds to realise I didn't add the yeast:doh: . If I add yeast now and put it on again will it work? We're obviously not having pizza tonight - but there's always tomorrow!:o

No there's no need to cook the base first.
and to freeze them I just pop them in the freezer and when frozen pop them in a freezer bag.
they are absolutely yummy and very filling.:D

    Erm... probably :)

Alternatively you could use it as it is and get a very crispy base... :)

I'll give it a go - nothing to lose except 1 1/2tsp yeast.

Just made Aromatic Seafood Rice as an alternative for tonight and it smells really good. It's a recipe from a book called One Pot that I got for £2 from Wilkinsons on Saturday. £2 well spent I think!
