You seem to be doing really well on no gambling and overpaying debt. Hello, it’s been a while.January is a hard month. This time last year I was gambling £1000’s every night. It was sickening, sometimes I would win £200-300 other nights I would lose. I had a big win of nearly £3k which I should have cashed out. I didn’t I chased an extra £100 or so for a round number and lost the lot. Therefore I hate January.I haven’t gambled since and I will be nearly a year on.Relationship with my wife is good, but I feel terrible I have a year or so to clear 12k of debt.Money wise, nothing major to report to be honest. Aiming for total payments of £1100 month on debt with money for fun activities . We are going to book a holiday nothing mega money but something we can enjoy. So yeah that’s an update. No gambling

Getting through every day (and the longest month of the year) with no gambling and no new debt is such an awesome achievement! It’s ok to just ‘get by’, but the reality is that you are a significantly different person to the one you were a year ago. That doesn’t happen by accident, or with no effort. You have worked consistently every day for almost a year to get to this point. Your resilience, commitment to your family, and your desire to put this all firmly in the past deserves huge kudos.
i have no idea who you are, but i am so proud of you and what you’ve achieved. Keep going, one day at a time 💪🏻5 -
What a great post - you should be very proud of yourself! Keep at it! BiB xDF1

Update
Payday and budget set. Aiming for £600 towards MBNA card this month.Had my first night out with my friends in over a year. Had put money away for it, hotel food and beers just under £100.Feel a bit sick spending that sort of money which I think is a good thing personally. I would have happily spent £250 on one hand of blackjack when gambling. Will update my signature with balance figures but managed to pay quite a bit this Jan.

More important than the money, did you have a fun time with your friends?
I think in 2024 you really made an impact on your debt too, don't discount all the hard work you did and what you achieved last year.Save £12k in 2025 #33 £2531.77/£5000 (If this carries on I might have to up my target!)

You've done really well during this past year to stop gambling, pay down your debt and your relationship with your wife has improved. That is a huge achievement - good luck for 2025.1
