Really made up with Rick's progress! (isn't he doing well!?) You must all be so proud of him.

You don't seem to stop :)

Off to nominate for post of the month now :D

Thanks for the update. So pleased things are still going well and good luck with your business venture. Have the ICU not got some sheets of A4 with basic pictures and words on that they could give to Rick when he wants to talk. My dad had loads of these and just pointed to the pictures when he couldn't speak because of his trachy. We also did some more at home for the ICU dept with words we felt were missing. Hospital were very appreciative. They worked a treat, not always an exact picture but we managed to understand what dad wanted to say and he just had to nod or shake his head.

yes they have got plastic sheets with letters on it - but Ricks' dyslexic and he wont entertain it in fact it was stressing him

    update

spoke to soon - Rick had a poorly night - his oxygen level was up to 80% (was 30%) but went down to 75%. thankfully he's at Glenfield where there is an abundance of specialists of the highest quality.
anyway tests today proved that his lungs were not causing him a problem- so they were looking at his heart function - nothings come back conclusive although he has settled a little.

i haven't seen him today as i was starting my business - which started really poorly - however it ended on a positive as i had 3 block bookings for post natal sessions.
on thurs i am running a behaviour, breastfeeding and baby clinic, in my hometown covering sickness, where i am allowed to target the mums at the clinic. the unfortunate thing is that although i am starting it in my home town, no one knows who or what i do - if i had started it in the town where i work- i would have had a full session this pm. never mind.

  • He's done so remarkably well in a short space of time he's bound to have a few days like this, doesn't stop the huge amount of worry though does it?
    Do take care.

I wish you all the luck in the world with your business I'm sure you will do well xx
  • This is a very difficult time for you to be starting a new business. Good luck with that. Must be very difficult to concentrate with all you have to do as well as Rick being so sick. I am still checking every day to see how things are going.
