Hi i hope everything is ok I'm really worried

Hey FFDS, I was delighted to hear that Rick's awake - I hope he's still mouthing to everyone!
I squizzed through and couldn't find a reply to your question about benefits - in case you are still wondering, I'm fairly certain you can't claim anything until you're 18 (certainly was the case when I lived alone at age 17).
But that pales into insignificance when you think of everything he's made it through!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
I am so pleased for you.
My mums bridesmaid died from a ruptured spleen she was very young.
I didnt post before, but now we know everything to be ok I am so pleased for you.
My middle daughter had to have her appendix out, she was only 8 and it was awful.
She was in so much pain, but even though I tried to hide the worry, she was obviously aware that I was concerned, and she kept mouthing kisses at me and telling me not to worry!!
In the next bed the boys appendix had burst, he too was very ill but came through!!ACII and Chartered so now I can focus on learning to play my beautiful Sax. 🎷0 -

sorry to keep you all waiting - haven't been on line for a couple of days due to me doing all the last minute preps for my business.
went to the hospital yesterday to see Rick- he was totally shattered as he had just had physio and had an exhausting time. so in a deep sleep. i did speak to him and told him a few things - when rambling on his heart monitor kept bleeping at names he recognised - and the nurse just said he was recognising the names.
we got up early this morning and went to the hospital this morning he had just had physio again and was shattered but apparantly had his eyes open this morning. he tried desperately to open his eyes and look at me whilst i was talking, and turned his head towards me. i told him to keep his eyes closed and to rest which he did so i stroked his head and spoke rubbish . there was an obvious response from him- i could tell he was listening.so i was really pleased.
this afternoon his mum went in and he was awake - he got frustrated as he couldn't communicate because of the trachy.
i'm going in on tues and try to teach him a little basic sign language (yes /no/ drink etc) he is moving his hands and arms so this should be ok.
the plan is that he is kept in intensive care for at least another 2 weeks as he has chest drains in etc but apart from that he's doing very well (although he still has a huge mountain to climb). the Ebay auction ended (missed that too) i think it raised about £16 which is great so i'll get on to ebay tomorrow and sort that out.
my oh got a cheque for overpaid national insurance - so half of that (£50) is going into the hospital fund and the other half we have donated to a local childrens charity, as that was our original aim before all this started. the mums at my work are thinking of running a coffee morning- but need to get permission for that.
i noticed that this thread has been nominated for post of the month - thank you for the nominations- if it wins that too will go in the pot for hospital family room.
the other good news is that my house is immaculate - courtesy of some of my pals - it actually looks minimalistic as they have rid the house of clutter etc. so the afternoon was spent baking biscuits and cakes with the children (all cleared up of course).Give blood - its free0 -
I'm glad to hear Rick's on the mend. I've followed this thread from the beginning and was getting worried when you hadn't updated for a couple of days.
You've been a tower of strength through it all and Rick is very lucky to have such a lovely and loving family.
Good luck to you all and love and best wishes to Rick.0 -

Thanks for the update. So pleased things are still going well and good luck with your business venture. Have the ICU not got some sheets of A4 with basic pictures and words on that they could give to Rick when he wants to talk. My dad had loads of these and just pointed to the pictures when he couldn't speak because of his trachy. We also did some more at home for the ICU dept with words we felt were missing. Hospital were very appreciative. They worked a treat, not always an exact picture but we managed to understand what dad wanted to say and he just had to nod or shake his head.0
